"internationally Blu-ray enjoys a wider margin of close to 3:1 over HD DVD. In its report of first-half home entertainment sales internationally, research concern Media Control GfK International shows consumers outside the U.S. bought about 650,000 units of Blu-ray software, valued at more than $23 million, with HD DVD selling just around 240,000 units valued at about $8.5 million in the first half."

not that either number is really that impressive, but news it is.

Bluray will sell more because the word SONY is written on it. everyone loves SONY and don't realise how crap their products really are when compared to other manufacturers these days. If people were more informed about all these products i can tell that HD DVD sales would be a lot higher

yeah everyone loves sony but blu ray is liek the next up from hd dvd's blu ray is amazing so id buy blu ray rather than hd dvd but you need a ps3 or blu ray player and can the ps3 still play ps1 games music and dvs and ps2 games?

PS3 can't play original "purple disc" playstation 2 games.

I think you'll find that blu-ray's features over HD-DVD are useless, 7.1 digital surround sound? most people only use 5.1 and all use analogue 3.5mm jacks so no benefitting there and most people can't tell the dif between analogue and digital sound.
a movie in 1080p.. helllooooo most people only have 720p HDTVs!
and a HD-DVD can be had for £13-£18 but a bluray disc around £20-£30?

HD-DVD offers what people can actually use, bluray is just "hey look, i'm endorsed by sony, see? now you want me."

HD-DVD can run 1080p aswell, another bad thing for all the early adopters of HDTV screens.. your current sets are going to become outdated as the technology changes within the next 2 years and wireless HD becomes standard :) I doubt you also have digital out 7.1 speakers?
