Here are the latest Japanese console hardware sales for the week of October 15 - 21, 2007:

1. NDS Lite - 70,608 [5,724,448]
2. PSP - 58,669 [2,066,468]
3. Wii - 24,932 [2,760,665]
4. PlayStation 3 - 17,130 [752,425]
5. PlayStation 2 - 10,281 [627,823]
6. Xbox 360 - 3,011 [161,508]
7. GBA SP - 130 [21,175]
8. GB Micro - 118 [26,710]
9. GameCube - 48 [10,021]

The Wii is still doing decent numbers, but the PS3 has really picked up, and it's looking more like a close race. The PS3 is also in line to overtake the Wii week-on-week next week or the one after.

Has the Wii bubble burst? Are Wiis still scarce there? Or has the PS3's run of bad sales just come to the end to put some competition back in the game? Will Wii-Fit put the Wii back at the top again?

Either way, the Japanese sales charts are starting to have more worth looking at and speculating on, after a year of almost identical weekly results.

I think people are realizing what a fad the Wii was. I practically knew this would happen before it even launched, just like I know the PS3 will eventually come out on top. That kind of reasoning comes easier to someone who's been through as many console generations as me.

Final Fantasy has turned the PSP around. A year from now it's hardware sales will be drastically low.

While it's software will stay the same as always. Drastically low

If they hurried up and brought out some more decent games on Wii, the sales would rise. Like Smash Bros. Brawl... which is coming out Feb 2008.

I\'ve said it before. The PS3 is going to pick up and start doing decent numbers at some point, and if the Wii can\'t rocket back up with those huge figures, it\'s in trouble long-term.

Super Mario Galaxy comes out in like 2 weeks, so the Wii will jump up again and sustain high sales again
