Depends on what you want it for. Gaming is usually going to be better on a desktop since they tend to be more reliable and more cost effective. The only reason I would pick a laptop over a desktop is the need for mobility.

Personally, I do both. Now if only my laptop battery lasted more than 30 minutes.
