Desolation of Smaug, FINALLY. Let me tell you how incredibly excited I was for Beorn's appearance... and how disappointed I am with the way they went about introducing his character I'm not one of those people that nitpicks when the movie version of a book comes out and it's different than the story. There is nothing wrong with parts of the story being changed for the movie, it happens. And sometimes even for the better. But that doesn't mean that I wasn't still extremely disappointed with that particular part. Otherwise I was fairly happy with the movie. There were definitely a LOT more differences from the book in the 2nd part of the trilogy than there were in the first, but again, that's to be expected.

One thing I do wish Jackson (and many other writers) would stop doing is adding in completely random and made up love stories (like with Arwen in LotR and Kili in Desolation). It's dumb, it's not necessary and it just results in events of importance being cut out so that they can fit that crap in.
