Wearied stuff in minecraft

What's Happening in minecraft I was playing last night and a massive forest was on fire no lava near it does anyone know what caused it cause I'm worried it will happen to my house cause it's in a huge forest

I assume its probably a bug/glitch/error in the game, but I agree with Muffincat that its probably lighting. If not, then say bye to your forest

if you arent to far one your house re make it out of stone if yo are far make a stone wall around it but yes probably lightning
