3DS Game Recommendations

Thanks to the money I've saved, I finally have enough to buy a 3DS. My birthday is coming up next month so I was hoping for a few suggestions as to what games I should ask for. I only have a vague idea of the popular titles in the game library, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are two of the best games out for 3DS right now. Other notable games include Kid Icarus, Zelda and Resident Evil Revelations.
