mmm why not try and crash the server

You couldn't crash the server by posting text. That's kinda dumb... lol.

I'm guessing it is a joke

and Exodyus, depends how many people you have doing it. The server that G/F is on right now isn't big enough, we are already over capacity. If you get like 20 people to post close to the same time, it could crash it. If anything it would defaintly slow it down a lot.

Don't try to help if you don't even know what you're talking about.

Brainstorm this.

If you type a PAGE into a notepad and save it, it's going to be like 30kb. It saves in seconds. Less than one, usually.

Now you're telling me that by posting like 5 sentences and everyone does it at once - that 20 people could crash a Dual Core Processor Server that's probably running on 2 - 4gb of Ram?

Lay off the glue in grade school. Rofl.
The bandwidth alone is probably 100x that which would be sent by those 20 people. I've discussed this with Linux and his server set up. -_-...

Rofl.

I said at least it would slow the server down.

anyway, if you go to notepad and make a file that has 32 of the same characters and extract it into a server while playing Call of Duty 1 it will crash it. So it can be done.

Maybe you should lay off the dope in big boy land. No need to start an argument over everything, that's what kids do.

Thank you.

I don't think exodyus know how small our server is right now

Omg, kids are stupid...

Nevermind. Some Game engine and a server are 2 different things. Apples and bricks. They don't compare.

it won't overload the server, and it's not just posting, it's database queries, our server is strong enough to handle a thousand people post at the same time, the database just won't be able to update so most of those people will get database errors.

@jacob - our server is big...you don't know how big it is :)

I am not getting us a new server because the server hardware will overload...it has nothing to do with that lol...lots of confusion here I see.

Ohhh, I see what you talking about, before you always said that the server was "full", at least from my terrible memory.

@exodyus - It's not the game engine that's crashing, it's the server lol. Old people are clueless about technology these days.

if the server was "full" this forum wouldn't work because there would be no place to put anything new, whether its new members, new posts, etc. The limitations of the database on this server is just lower than what we need, new server will give me more control and since I have a LOT more experience than I did a year and a half ago when picking this server, I am sure it'll be better off.

Thank you for saying what I've BEEN saying. Lol. All it needs is the obvious admin backing for once-smart kids to see the error in their ways.

So you're telling me that Every case and Every instance of CoD1 - if some moron wants to put "32" characters that are the same,
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that it would just randomly crash.

I think you're full of sh;t and I call BS on you not having a clue what you're talking about. Period.
