View Full Version : Help Me WoW Question

This isn't really a question that relates to playing the game... but more the game in general. My brother began downloading it for a 10 day free trial and his friends are thinking of pitching in to help him keep playing it. Normally I wouldn't care at all, but it took 10 minutes to load the forum and this topic, and I have DSL! I'm was 30 minutes in on trying to load a Myspace app when I gave up. My brother is downloading it on a different computer, but the internet line is the same so... yeah. I was wondering if anybody knew how fast the connection will be once he starts to actually play. Will it be faster than it is when it's downloading or slower? Or is there no difference at all? I just want to know because the extreme slowness is killing me and I don't know if I'll be able to live with it. I don't think it's a problem with the computer because the internet was working fine before my brother got home and started that. My offline programs like GIMP seem to work normally right now too.

he's hogging the download speed, the speed would be much better after the download is finished - and I've had the problem in the past with stuff like this - people in other computers slowing down my computer, annoying lol

try to do a speed test and see what the download and upload speeds are - and then wait for the download to finish and then do the test again and compare - Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test (http://www.speedtest.net) should work

That's great to hear. :) If it stayed like this I would go crazy. I'll take the test but it's already started speeding up a little. It's still not perfect... but at least better. I would like to compare this to the speed while he's playing it though.

It's not really my choice. My brother is a senior so he gets whatever he wants. :-P At least he'll be gone in a few months.

Edit: Well here's what I got.

It's probably not as bad as it was an hour ago, thank goodness.

It has nothing to do with the situation - RAM doesn't determine internet speed either. Lol.

Well, it's running a lot better now. I think one of my brothers is playing WoW on the other computer so I took the speed test.

Another thing is your PC what type of PC you have new or old (mine) and other programs he may have had open besides WoW. WoW runs pretty smoothly as long as you don't have a ton of crap in your PC.

well this thread is about the internet connection, not the PC softwares lol - gj reading :)

other programs on other pc's don't affect your pc hardware, but internet hog affects everyone else on the same network, sad..
