of course it'll wipe your laptops HARD DRIVE :) Memory is temporary - hard drive space is permanent - if you install a new OS on it then the old one will be wiped

unless of course you install the new OS in a partition, for that you'd have to set something from the start

I'm pretty sure you can use the free-space of your current OS to create a partition for the new one. I think I did that for my Windows-Linux hybrid.;-)
Of course, when I did it I erased everything on the Windows part, so what do I know.... :eek1::eek1:

there are softwares that can create partitions on windows drives

Vista however has that feature already built in from the drive manager - XP doesn't

Hmm.
I seem to have retained my Windows' XP partition, but all saved files and such were erased.

Also: When is Windows 7 expected to be released? Or has it already been released, and I just missed it? O.o
