Our sources have previously informed us that at least some of the Star Wars films may be on deck for Blu-ray release starting in 2010, but that's still a ways off.
Less than a year, projected.

yeah, that's not soon.
and it'll either be the prequels, or the heavily edited "directors cut" of the original trilogy, which won't count.

Better than nothing.
Personally, I don't care. I haven't bought a movie in years and I don't care about Blu Ray.

Blu ray is basically movie watching for perfectionists, or for people with big huge giant tv's.
the picture quality and sound quality is way better. sharp edges, perceived 3 dimensionality, improved colors, improved clarity, improved detail. its just awesome.

dvd-8.5 gb of data on 2 layers
blu-ray 50gb of data on 2 layers
due to the fact that the blu-ray has more room to spare, all video and sound is in epic quality.

yeah, because they don't compress anything. they just throw it all on there. For new releases it's simple
but for older movies, they go through a huge restoration process. (if they care about the movie that is)
