A Dozen Thousand

Yesterday GF hit a dozen thousand, or 12,000 gamers. Not that big of a deal seeing we've had a spark in the rate of member registration over the past few months. And I thought I'd give you guys a few interesting member stats:


Total Gamers: 12,000+ (dozen thousand)
Registered users: 6,300+
Users awaiting email confirmation: 4,700
Banned users: 988
Staff members: 18


Registered members are who have confirmed their email addresses and have passed through the anti-bot registration.

Users awaiting Email confirmation are people who most likely used fake emails to sign up - they'll never get to post. These may also be people who changed their email addresses and their new email address is either invalid or was shut down due to inactivity. We have a few of those (usually really old members)

Banned members..we are almost at a 1000!! Come on spammers, a dozen to go. A 50,000 Year ban to the 1000th banned!!

Staff members are the obvious ones.

Note: above estimates equals to exactly 12,000. I've rounded down registered and email confirmation members.

we're at 1,135 bans right now

believe it or not, i just mass banned the same guy more than a 100 times - he apparently has been using Proxies to sign up and thought I wouldn't notice him using the same email over and over - well it wasn't exactly the same, it's just an email with about 20 characters with periods at different places

He has been using gmail too to signup over the past few days - some idiot from germany so I may actually block gmail from new registrations for about a week or so because I had to manually ban all of the proxy IPs he used and there was about 50 different ones.

pathetic spammer. never even got the chance to do anything further.
