GTA IV isn't that resource consuming from what I know so you should be able to get a good computer for a $1000 - are you planning on getting it premade? or custom made by someone?

premade i think, but do you think it's smarter to get it made?

yeah you're better off because that way you can make sure a majority of the parts are made for gaming - most pre-made computers try to give you general parts at the cheapest price possible - the only things they'll point out is the GPU and probably the amount of RAM you have.

he needs to wait 24 hours as well but i believe he's talking about this:
Walmart.com: iBuypower Gamer Hardcore 570 Desktop PC with AMD Phenom II 920 Quad-Core 2.8GHz Processor, 1TB Hard Drive: Computers (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10910028)

it's not bad - costs $900 but it doesn't tell you what kind of ram it has or whether it comes with heat spreaders. and it has a pretty decent Graphics card but I'm not too knowledgeable on ATI cards so i can't comment too much on it.

and it comes with Vista Home which isn't the preferred gaming OS - most stick with XP and others are waiting for Windows 7 to come out.

You'll still probably be able to get a better computer for the same price if its custom made OR save money for similar specs - but this is a decent deal if you don't want to go through the trouble of getting it custom made - these are just some comments to help you decide.
