That's not true at all; the models in 9 are waaaaay smoother and nicer than the ones in 8 o_O

9 just goes for a cartoonier look than a more realistic one... but if you play them, 8 has wayyyy worse graphics (except maybe in the cut scenes, where they are on par).

Well, sort of. Sure, the graphics may be way better, but the character models themselves seem to be a step back, it just doesn't look all too aestetically great to me, despite them being less pixel-y.

Well, in FF9 they went for a more old school final fantasy look as opposed to the more modern/futuristic look of 7 and 8.

...are you just saying you don't like the cartoonish look? Because that doesn't really mean anything about it being a step behind/ahead :/ The graphics were greatly improved, even if you don't like the artistic direction o.o It's a cuter, less realistic vision... but technically, the graphics are much better o-O
