I hope this qualifies as computer help. Its more of a... computer dilemma.
I want to get Windows 7 Home Premium, since its only 99.99 from Newegg. But what about Windows 7 Ultimate? So many to choose from!
Anyone have any suggestions? I don't see a difference for gaming in either of them. It might be Microsoft's way of saying "We will slap 'Ultimate' in the name and charge more"
what do you think?

I'd go with ultimate - the "home" version of windows are always the basic versions. But they generally don't feel too different - I've used the home and pro version of XP and neither felt any different besides Pro seeming a bit faster during start up. But then again, I had new hardware as well.
And the costs differ because they usually include stuff in the more expensive versions that aren't in the basic versions - I don't remember the differences in XP though...I switched years ago without giving it a second thought.

Always go for the ultimate edition. Never home. NEVER.....home.
Usually home is the complete and utter dumbed down version of the operating system besides "basic" which is only sold to third-world countries anyway.
With the ultimate editions you actually have access to your entire mmc console, which is usually partially blocked in home versions. For example in the home version of vista, you would NOT have access to your secpol.msc which would grant you access to your local security policy WHICH GREATLY improves the security on your box. Trust me...get ultimate. But don't fuc* around with your system unless you know what you're doing.

For me right now, its all about money. Without a job (Im in a college town so the college students normally get them before I do) Im kinda stuck on what I can get.
Im thinking about pre-ordering so its cheaper.
