I'm sure there are, any specific game you're looking for?
They aren't as abundant as PS3 though (not to my knowledge)

blue ray pc games would be a bad idea atm as not many ppl have blue ray in pc's so they would lose money

I think it would be great beause of having 5 or 10 times the storage on a disc meaning better graphics and longer games.
especially on games like dungeon siege 2. or cossacks the art of war.

yeah it has always been that way with pc games.
i can remember when pentium 4s came out the games jumped a huge leap forward.
nothing has changed they will eventually use blu-ray discs for pc games but i think it is taking a long time to get the ball rolling ive had a blu-ray drive on my pc for a long time now.

I don't think there is any Blu-ray games nor will there ever be.
1. Blu-ray is owned by Sony, they probably will do all they can to keep it PS3 Exclusive as far as games go.
2. You install the game on your HD so there is no need for a Disc that has 50gb
3. Digital Game Downloads is where the gaming industry is heading, in a year or two there probably wont be physical PC games anymore.

yeah this is true however games are bigger to install so u might need larger amounts of space on a disc.
if they keep it ps3 exclusive they will make less money
cloud networking is a bad idea in my mind as there is no proof u own anything

SONY could make a mint if they sold thier discs to pc aswell as dvd and ps3.
if a game takes 100gb and you need to download it in my area it would take a year as i get around a 70kb/s download speed which is the maximum speed for the town in scotland that i live in which is surrounded by forests and sheep goes significantly lower for about 20 hours of the day its only at 70kb/s for 4 hours of the day.
remember you can get blu-ray discs with 8 layers. which is 200gb
Scoob1988

yeah this is true sony should create an emulator or similar to run games from disc to allow no installing everything is going cloud anyway which sucks for low speed internet users
BIGDUDEJOE
11-26-2009, 09:21 AM
yeah but i didnt mean they would have to keep it on the disc they could install it onto your hard drive from the disc which is 999 times quicker than downloading.
huge tactical war fare games like cossacks would benefit emensly and also rpg world games like dungeon siege 2.

hmmm but whats the point in having all this disc space alot of ppl still only have 160 to 250 gb hard drives so they cant install games that have loads of space personally i have 2 tb hard drives and 2 750 hard drives so space isnt an issue but others would struggle
BIGDUDEJOE
11-27-2009, 11:04 AM
I dont think people would struggle any more than they already do with graphics cards and processors.
i have a small hard drive of only 600gb and even i would not struggle a50 or 100 gigabytle disc would not be to much as long as you only install 1 game at a time.
BIGDUDEJOE
11-27-2009, 11:05 AM
in 5 years time people will have 5 tb hard drives.

Isn't BR pretty good against piracy? I bet people that make PC games are frothing at the mouth to get away from the DVD's and the insane piracy levels
BIGDUDEJOE
03-04-2010, 03:53 PM
PIRACY sucks it taks away funding for better games i dont buy a game everymonth it takes a long time to find a game that is any good so its worth paying the money when u find a good game 99.9% of strategy games have very little strategy thier all cheap sh*t that require low levels of skill.
thiers no more planning or tactics in games now adays look at command and conquer just rush in first as quick as you can where is the strategy in that?
dungeon siege 2 and sacred 2 on the other hand involve planning and skill but dungeon siege 2 is a pc game that takes up 6 cds why cant the good pc games be larger.
also battlecry 3 is similar in style to command in conquer because it is a much smaller game if it was on larger discs with more room for bigger maps and bigger armies the good strategy would shine through and be quality

is thier any pc games that have more than 6 or12 gig on one disc???
seems a bit strange if thier isnt i mean we had 4.7 gig games 10 years ago and games have gotten bigger with better graphics???

I don't think more powerful physics and rendering increase the data size of a game that much/at all, more than they demand more powerful video cards, ram, and cpu.
ideally, programmers should be able to code all elements of the game efficiently enough that things like the graphics don't take any more space than they ever have. Only the game's content (music, sprites, textures, levels, etc) really make it take more space.
It's more likely that if a game is released that wouldn't fit on a single DVD that they'd release it on more than one DVD instead of a BluRay disc. Also, it's incredibly unlikely that they'd exceed the size of a single DVD because they wouldn't be able to release on consoles then.
All the reasons are in this thread as to why the standards are the way they are and why it would be unprofitable for a company to try and change them, at least with where technology is commercially available today.

ok but thats bull look at how much space a sega mega drive game needed and compare that to the ps3s 50 gb discs now compare the quality?
eventually pc games are gonna need to have bigger and bigger discs its the way games evolve.
people want to buy a disc in a shop with all the stuff they need on it so they can install the full game any time they want so that if they get a new pc they still have the disc with all the stuff on it.
i certainly dont wont discs to die and i feel downloadable games could ruin the industry we need to keep these discs in the shops with the full game on it.

ofcourse blu ray discs would increase the size of the game they would increase the size and quality a 56gb blu ray disc has more potential for pc games.
