Is there a general consensus over which has better controlability? im sure personal prefrence has a lot to do with it, but is there a substantial difference between the 2.

I dunno .. for me personally it depends on the game. However, these days I tend to exclusively do stuff with mouse & keyboard, I guess because of laziness hehe. Also, I tend to have the same kind've mapping that I set up for most games, and I'd probably make a heinous mess of gaming if I tried to do things differently now :P

Playing MW2, have always used a joystick (Saitek, Evo Force, currently) but was curious about using a mouse and keyboard. Obviously more options with a keyboard, but can it be as user friendly?

Welcome to Gamers Forum, be sure to read all rules and faqs of the forum.
I'm terrible with Joysticks, I've gotten used to mouse+keyboard combination too early in my life. Once you get used to it, it's very user friendly.
Once again, welcome, and enjoy yourself!

Thanks, it doesnt appear that there is a real landslide one way over the other here.
I started last night using both a joystick and the keyboard and I think it may work out better than either one alone.

I'm indifferent... I pick both because one game can make you use the joystick which is helpful but the mouse and keyboard is useful in FPS games...

I just remembered something - there was a flight sim game that I played long ago - was a lot more fun with a joystick (made specifically for flying type games)
Everything else, I'm good with Mouse + keyboard on the pc.

But I'm good with my mouse and keyboard.
