I'm sure quite a few people noticed the downtime we had All day December 15th and 16th and it was due to software failure on the server that kept shutting the server down when rebooted.

We had to reinstall some of the software which took all day to do yesterday. We are trying to figure out why it failed so we can prevent it in the future.

It was the first major outage this year, the last one came in early 2008.

I actually decided to set up a twitter account for GF because of suggestions yesterday by a few people while the server was offline, this would be a good way to inform members of what is going on when the site is unreachable. Our mailserver is on the same server so all email contacts were off for 2 days as well. Our twitter page is located here: http://twitter.com/gamersforum

I apologize for the inconvenience, I just hope it won't happen again. Taking any questions or comments about the situation in this thread.

Just can't win with these internet things!

BACK IN MY DAY WHEN WE MADE AN INTERNET IT NEVER BROKE, NOT WHEN IT RAINED LIKE HELL AND THE SNOW WAS 10 FEET DEEP.
IT WAS A TOUGH MACHINE THAT YOU COULD COUNT.

Yup, I don't plan on tweeting the crap out of it, but it's there when the site or I am unreachable.
