I am a pc gamer and I would like to ask if the new Intel Core I3 is a good gaming processor coz I am planning to change my Intel Core 2 Duo 7400.
Thanks in advance.

It's a very good and powerful processor, currently the i7 is the best imo.

i7 is almost completely distributed in market and many brands are selling it with their plans. So better to go with new processor.

Now that they are out, please post your experience with Intel Core i7 CPU and X58 chipset. I am wondering if anyone has installed Linuxany distro, in general on this new platform.

Of course, a thorough review from Phoronix would be ideal.

A bit OT: In the kernel config, there is an option to choose "Core 2" for Core 2 Duo processors. Anyone knows of any new options regarding Core i7?

If there's a benchmark for a piece of hardware out there, this site has it covered. tomshardware .com (I can't post links...). Whenever I am considering purchasing or advising for other people's hardware purchases I usually consult this website. I'm not sure if the i3 is on there yet, however the i5 and i7 should have numerous benchmarks.
