I would like to make a thread about a movie that many may have not seen or may not have heard. It is the movie that is inspired by the true story of Greg Yance. This movie may be only getting a 6.5 through the 618 votes off of imdb users but I personally believe it's a 9/10 movie.Spoilers upcoming turn left if you want to avoid! The way he f's his life up and then chooses to help the townspeople and then looks for a job for 3 months instead nearly jumping back into the lifestyle and then nearly killing himself to actually making it as a honest citizen is what I really like about the movie. I still am appalled that ***** at the temp agency had a job for him but pretended it didn't exist. I also think it's funny his buddy Pookie had to go to jail because he had some priors then rolled over on someone got killed. stiching *****.

can't say I've heard of the movie mate, or the guy ..
Inspired by the true story of Greg Yance. In the film, Yance is a hood who goes to jail for possession of drugs. He is given a choice: 5 years in jail or a couple of months in boot camp. He chooses boot camp and finds out it is tougher than he thought it would be. He braves it through and comes home a better man. He then has to deal with the real world, and never gives up no matter what the odds.
You sound like you enjoyed it thedeparted and that it made a big impression on you (given your 9/10) .. may I ask what made it stand out from other films of its ilk?

It's what?. I think the reason why it stood out so much for me is the fact that a young black male that was going down a road that was going to lead to 2 things, death or prison. Changed his life in such a positive way and changed the lives of the people in that town. And even when he was at his lowest and almost decided to give up on life he pulled his strength and courage together and made good of his life and eventually effected others in the inner city with his group center he opened.

lol, what I mean by "its ilk" is other films of a similar type. Sounds interesting though, I'll keep an eye out for it.
