What Mass Effect 2 class are you playing to start?
Is it the same as your original Mass Effect class?
I am playing as a Sentinel but my original character was a Vanguard.

The game is out in Europe on the 29th, and my preload should be rdy very soon (thru steam) .. so I'll give a more concrete response to this thread once I get to play it rather than attempt to satisfy the craving for ME2 by trolling for info like some kind've gaming crack whore ..

So what do you guys think of the new Combat system, the classes, the Biotics, the Shields ect.
I'm kinda mixed, I liked the ME1 level system but ME1 was WAY too easy.
still the way you distribute points in ME2 is not so great especially when there's only 4 things to level up compared to the 8 or so on ME1.
But I do find myself using Biotics and ordering my team to do stuff A lot more then I did in ME1, so overall the Combat system in ME2 Works for me.

I really enjoy the more on the fly combat of this one it is leaps and bounds better then the last and that is part of why I am playing as a sentinel over the vanguard. Its hard to say right now if I will be happy with the character development in ME2 as I am only level 7 now and I think in the higher levels is where it will prove to be enough or lacking. They have made inventory way better in this one and I am very happy they changed it. The one thing I could see getting old is the probe mining for minerals for upgrades but overall the game is so good I have been working on very little sleep each day.

well .. 35 hours played .. level 21 achieved .. and completed it
There were bits I loved big time, and bits that bugged me beyond belief .. but, now I want to get my main toon in a place so she's ready for the DLCs, and start rolling another toon through rather than dicking around.
Funny thing though, I sat down earlier to edit my original review for ME2 and I couldn't help but get stuck on some of these awesome/fail aspects .. I might need a day clear to think about it. Personality stuff in the game, class stuff, gameplay stuff - it all seems to be schizophrenic, very odd. But even with that said I loved it .. omg, this is like having the best sex of your life with someone who has a face like a slapped arse .. while at the same time thinking it was terrible sex, and the person is gorgeous .. I'm so discombobulated .......
Anyways, thinking of taking either the soldier or sentinel through next .. but haven't made up my mind. Anyone else playing thru as something else yet?

I completed my first play through on my Sentinel. This game was amazing! I liked it so much I immediately made a new character and started playing again. First character was renegade male and so I made a paragon female engineer for my second character. I very very rarely play through a game a second time right after completing it once so that says something about the game. TBH I can see myself playing through with each class sometime in the future. I am even thinking about renting ME1 to play through just to have a character to try the import with. I lost all my ME1 data a while back so don't have my old character to use. ;(
There were really very few parts of this game I didn't like. The skill system worked well enough for me jango but I will say that part of it seems less like a RPG then before. It seemed to fit the game better in my mind this way. I have said it before and I will again the mining could have been done better. I don't know how it was on the PC but on the Xbox it made my hand cramp up since you have to hold down a trigger the whole time.

did you catch my review of it Frank? for me there were a couple of annoying things, but the game owns a LOT so they kinda disappear rly
i've now played thru as an infiltrator (neutral) and soldier (full renegade), and rolled a brand new sentinel (full paragon) last night .. i still love the infiltrator, but each of the classes seem nicely distinct from the next, which is cool

hmm, I played through ME1 and 2 as a Soldier at first. Im on my fourth play through now with an adept. I forget what the 3 play through was.. I think technician. I remember Incinerate.
Anyways, adepts are sexy. But I miss all the weapons. I think I would get owned on insanity with this character. I feel naked without my sniper rifle.

I really like the challenge the engineer provides (not only for the fact I switched up the difficulty setting). The sentinel could take a bunch more damage then the engineer can. Feels much more tactical to use my drone to pull people out of cover then freeze them solid and shatter them. I am about halfway through all the loyalty missions so getting close.
My next character will probably be a vanguard and I think I will skip the loyalty missions for a good number of the team. Maybe make an adept next after that.

I've not dabbled with the engineer much or even looked into them a lot, but have with every other class. Aside from the drones, is there any other awesomeness I'm not aware of that engineers bring?

You get AI hack makes robotic baddies including geth turn on their teammates. They have a Cryoblast and incinerate to freeze or light things on fire. I find the engineer to be very much about controlling the enemy.

I have played a few classes but honestly soldier is probably my favorite. if you are on the 360 go for the insanity award, its not all that hard with a geth shield and all the weapons you could want.
I dont have words for how useful Zaeed is, his thermal grenade hits targets behind cover and usually has an instant cast when you make the order.
And he works great with Miranda and her unit stat bonus and warp/overload. So you get your whole team doing more damage with a health boost, set Zaeed to a warlord for his damage bonus and whatever has faster cooldown for Miranda. Switch between group disruption and incendiary ammo. Not even fair for your opponents. =P
Playing an adept right now. Working on area singularity, faster cooldown and heavy throw.

I dont have words for how useful Zaeed is,
I can't agree with you more on this. On my second play through with my engineer he was always in my team.
I have decided to put down Mass Effect 2 for a bit. Bioshock 2 comes out in a day so I have not started my third character yet. After playing through Bioshock 2 I sure I will be back to finish up the classes I missed.

I dunno, I found the soldier a bit dull .. I loved my infiltrator though, very cool. And anyway, I'm not sure there is a 'best' in a game like this .. it comes down to personal preference.
