Anyone here play Secret of the Solstice? It's a free MMO by Outspark. Really great game to play.

Here's an overview of the game:

Secret of the Solstice is a 3D (with 2D Sprites) Fantasy MMORPG by Outspark. Like most MMORPGs, the game has anime-inspired graphics, but the game’s overall look is certainly unique. The game’s graphics and gameplay were certainly inspired by similar titles like like Ragnarok Online and Angels Online, but Secret of the Solstice still has its own unique features as well. If you’re looking for a new game to play, Secret of the Solstice is certainly worth checking out. Players start their adventure in the game’s world as a classless Xenian and can advance to one of the game’s four job advancements at level 16. The game’s four first job advancements are:

Squire - Squires are the generic ‘warrior’ class in Secret of the Solstice. They have strong melee attacks and high defensive capabilities but have weaker skills than the other classes. Squires can become Knights at level 66, Warriors at level 96 and Warlords at level 131.
Apprentice - Apprentices are the generic offensive spell casting class in Secret of the Solstice. They can deal massive damage with their spells, but are vulnerable in melee combat as they have low armor and hit points. Apprentices can become Mages at level 66, Wizards at level 96 and ArcMages at level 131.
Neophyte - Neophytes are the generic ‘Thief’ class in Secret of the Solstice. They have powerful attacks but tend to have low hit points and defense. Neophytes, unlike Squires and Apprentices, have two job promotion trees they can choose. They can become melee oriented Thieves or ranged Archers. Each of the trees have their own respective job promotions.
Acolyte - Acolytes are the generic Priest/Paladin-like class in Secret of the Solstice. They have powerful healing and supportive magic, as well as decent melee skills. Like the Neophyte they also have two job promotion trees they can pursue. They can choose to become all-out ‘healers’, or opt to become more melee-oriented Holy Avengers.

man, I used to play this game but I was stuck in the tutorial level and sometimes people would kill me out of the blue whenever i got out of dungeons or whatever...
I would try to get back to it again, but.... I dont know now, the population's probably greater than open beta.

Sorry mate, I give this game the thumbs down. Tried it and was generally unimpressed.

completely brainless pre-game, way fast into the mid-game with no reward, and then a giant brick wall of pointless grinding... it just had no presentation whatsoever.

if you're going to go Outspark, I'd recommend Fiesta before this game, but I have my own reservations (http://www.gamers-forum.com/showthread.php?t=9848&p=190467) about that game as well.

I'd prefer ragnarok rather than this game.. but then again, I think you gotta pay just to play that game, this one is just a free version of it... ah yes, I think thats the reason why I stopped playing was because of the grinding...

I think I will give this game a try. I like games with this camera angle, I wish I had played Ragnarok back in the day.

Nice feedback guys hehe. Well, to be honest, every MMO you will ever play has grinding so no point in using that as an excuse. By the way, you can't compare Fiesta to Solstice. They are the same genre but different gameplay. Fiesta is like WoW and Solstice is like Ragnorak, a game I've never played before. The game gets confusing but to be honest, the confusing aspect of it made me want to find out more and I eventually learned more to play the game further. I was like "what the..." then "ohhhh I get it....cooool!!" lol XD.

Secret of the Solstice just released a new trailer if you guys want to check it out :) Just go on youtube and look up "Secret of the Solstice Kingdom Divided". The new trailer looks a lot better than the original one.
Also, they released a new item into the game. If you're a fan of animals, you'll love this one: a White Tiger costume. I took a look at one the screenshots posted and I thought it was pretty cool.

Yeah you do have a point, every MMO out there requires some part of grinding...
well there are quests to make it worthwhile but oh well, thats just me...
anyway, that trailer looks alright... you're tempting me to get back into this game.... hahaha.
also, the thing that I hate about these mainstream MMO's is that....
the cash shop items have a great benefit, but .... what about people that can't afford those pre-paid cards sold in stores? there has to be some way of attaining those items that benefit you in the game rather than spending REAL money, you know?

welcome to capitalism, Kenoi, where companies and individuals are forced to pull strings any way they can to make more money!

Grinding will become an element of most any MMO, I agree, but the nature of the grinding can be different if the combat gameplay is more or less engaging or complicated. For example, a grindfest in Runescape appeals much less than one in WoW for obvious reasons that I wont take time to detail in intellectual prose.

I think I've become too picky with MMOs - might have to p2p... can't find any free ones that I can't find some major issue with. I'm glad that you've been able to have fun with Secret of the Solstice and I hope you get some people from the forum to play with you :)

yeah, but I said I 'might' haha....
I'm too busy with school stuff, my only free time is here and..... whenever I eat. haha.

Well the thing is...when it comes to free MMOs, people forget that paying for the game is NOT required like p2p games are. F2P games aren't as good as P2P games are...that's a fact. I never got into P2P cuz I'm not picky and I want to have fun while saving my money ;) Sure, game companies will have events where they will want to pull you in to gain revenue but like I said, it's not required. It's up to the players themselves if they want to spend their own money. Just recently, Solstice did an event that I actually got into...you gotta make your own video and submit it to their site. If you make a good enough video, you win a flip camera, which I thought was cool. Been busy trying to make the video good lol cuz I'm not good at making videos XD
