Which is a better game: one with a plot and you play the role of the main character, or one without a central plot that lets you explore? Thoughts and anecdotes welcome.

I prefer games with linear plots. Usually the games are more explored than if you're playing like...dragon age or something. It was great but i'd rather play a game where you have to do things in order.

I like plots.
IT GIVES THE GAME MEANING AND PURPOSE and stuff..
Games where you just explore are fun but I tend to get bored and you feel like you're NEVER DONE.
Ever.
Which my OCD does not agree with.

I kinda like both.. but if I had to choose.. umm... I kinda like the way a linear game has a straight-lined story instead of a "spider" effect of stories. So, I'd say linear over non-linear. I've got a short attention span though, so, yeh, stories like that are better imo.
EDIT: I hope responding to a topic made by a banned.. um... person.. is ok... Didn't see that he was banned till afterwords. -_-
