Hey, I have a question about a radio and speakers for my car

Right now, my car has a Cassette Tape radio, and 2 of the 4 speakers are dead. My parents are letting me put the cost a new ones in the car payment, but I need help picking them out because I have no idea what I'm looking for.

For the radio, I'm looking for one under 200, but nice quality.
I want it to have a removable faceplate, USB and Line In on the front, and good sound quality.
I'd like to to be iPod compatible and also have HD radio.

As for the speakers, I need 4: 2 front and 2 back speakers.
My budget was hopefully 300, and I just want them to not sound crappy or tingy, and to have bass to them because I don't plan on getting a Subwoofer.

If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be great because I have no idea what I'm looking for!

I found this:
Alpine CDA-9887 (http://www.pacificstereo.com/alpine-cda-9887.html)

Comments on it?

I'd hazard to say that you could hit up your friendly local wal mart and get a budget cd/mp3 player with all the spec you wanted just fine for super cheap (under $100) - the only real hard part would be getting that HD radio. How much do you really want that? Cause it'll cost you oodles more to find a stereo with that feature, alone.

You could even got okay sounding speakers at wal mart too, I'd bet, although I can't guarantee that idea for ya. It'd be super budget though!

The stereo that you picked out there I'd scoff at and say, "I bet you could do just fine with something less than half the price, nyah." But that's just me.

Anyone else for better advice?

Well my advice is still to come. Im doin alot of searching and comparing. But what you are looking to spend wont really give u the sound and quality you are looking to get. Since i love car audio let me poke around on the subject for a bit and ill be sure to get back to you. But also will you be doing the install yourself?

make sure it fits...if you get a radio that's too big for the slot, you would have just wasted your money. I have friends that have cars with old time cassette players which are smaller in size than the cd players they have out in the market now.

Other than that, don't know too much about car radio. I bought a new one a few months ago to replace my old cassette player and it was slightly too big but I was able to stuff it in there. Never had speaker issues so never really played around with that.

Well, if something is over the budget, post it anyway and I'll take a look at it

I thought I was being generous on the prices, lol, but show me what you find.

And yea, my sisters' boyfriend and I are going to do it, he has a ton of experience with install car electronics.

And lol, that's a good idea Linux
I'll be sure to measure that, I never thought about it.
