Well yesterday my essei exam question tittle 'What is the effect of game console to kids and teens?' lol, that was just an amazing question I ever seeing on exam paper!

So what do you think about it?

Does game console really affecting kids and teens? Indeed it's.
What is the effect to them?
Well there is two categories, first is positive effect and second is negative effect.

A researcher have made a research about gaming to kids and teens.
What they found out is just amazing and blow me away.
'If you play shooting genre game, you will be good on Math subject' :spinny:

Negative effect?
There is lot of news that said, there is lot of teens 24 hours non-stop playing game console have made them died due to tired, non-stop looking at the tv screen and muscle contract and bla bla bla... sorry bout ma english.

What do you think?

Does game console more to a positive effect or negative effect?
Well for me it's more to negative effect.

I'd say one of the negative effects of people getting addicted and flunking out of college or becoming a shut-in and choosing to play games instead of doing normal healthy socialable events. Positives are teens having things to fill their spare time. There's a saying idle hands are the devil's playground, well that's can't true to gaming. In the 70's teen vandalism was at all time high and teen crime was sky high. Despite was Jack Thomson wants you to believe teen has decreased in the gaming era and looks to continue that despite the doom and gloom news reports

I have to agree with departed on the negative affects. Its less negative if video games are bad the US army wouldnt be using video games to train their soldiers. Video games are a way of getting rid of stress and relaxing, I for one use it to relax and have some fun after a hard day of college and crap. Nothing wrong with it.

People want you to believe video games are the root causes of school shootings, bullies, etc etc. But their not People who hate video games, cause they suck at them, want to push forward and say they are negative. They arent. Ive been playing video games since NES and I have yet done something stupid cause of video games.

There was a report out of japan i do believe where a kid set on fire his best friend because he was beaten in a duel on "World of warcraft" When asked why he did it he said " i wasnt myself I was a fire mage."

For me, it had an amazing impact on me, I used to play a lot of strategy games when I was younger like Rome Total War, and Civilization and stuff. These games HELPED ME A LOT specially in my knowledge of history. Throughout High School I have had no trouble whatsoever with History and right now I'm taking a college course (AP History) and I have an A-

Thank you Games :D

Addiction is the only negative effect, that and rheumatism from repetitive hand strain. Thanx to prior video game addiction, * and still now lol* I have severe nerve damage in my right hand and arm. I spent too many hours on games as a kid and would be know to play none stop on a game for 48 hours at a time...hence addiction. But I have never known anybody to drop dead from it. Kids are more likely ironically to die from exhaustion from school work and bullying then anything else. We had a big debate about it in the uk, and people are so one sided slated the video game industry. But to be honest I think just about anything else is more harmful then a game. If somebody does something they are copying in a game then it is the person commiting the crime that is at fault and mentally imbalanced, you got a cool question there...
When i was in school i had a similar question given me in an open class debate.....they caught me playing a gameboy in the corner instead of listening not exactly a great start to my side of the debate was it lol!

I say another negative effect is laziness?
I mean child obesity has rose in the years
and its because kids don't get exercise because they are playing video games
idk I think thats another thing that needs to be considered here

It develops good hand eye co-ordination. there's a practical positive for ya. It's also a really good way of venting anger or stress.
I do think that some people are influenced by games to do some mental stuff. As joker said, the kid who set his best friend on fire - however, it's unlikely that they were mentally stable in the first place (if a video game has that big an effect on them), so it's just as likely that another stimulus could have caused a similar result.
