There's been a programme on the BBC in the UK about what makes a good singer, guitarist, drummer etc etc .. and as part of that programme they've asked people to vote who they'd want in their ideal band line-up. The thing to think about is NOT about what the band might sound like, but more they're individual awesomeness ..
Here's the categories you can choose (one person for each):
-Singer
-Lead guitarist
-Bass player
-Drummer
-OTHER - another rhythm guitarist, keyboard player, co-singer etc
As an example here's mine ..
Singer - Matt Bellamy (Muse)
Lead guitarist - Jimi Hendrix
Bass player - Jack Bruce (Cream)
Drummer - Keith Moon (The Who)
Other - Johnny Marr (from the Smiths, on rhythm guitar)
