Indianapolis (WISH) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police have arrested a man who they say used a paintball gun to punish his stepson for not doing his chores.
Wednesday morning, officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Remington Drive. Asagai Allen-Barton told the officers he had just finished disciplining his 10 year-old stepson. Allen-Barton said the boy was not doing his chores, so he told the boy to run in circles around the cul-de-sac in front of the house.
The man said the boy only ran around for a few seconds, and then began to run away towards a bus stop down the street. He said he ran after him, grabbed him, and took him to the backyard. He admitted to police he then went and grabbed his paintball gun and mask. He once again told the boy to start running, but the boy refused.
Allen-Barton said he shot his stepson with the paintball gun. The boy told police he was hit several times: in the arm, in the leg, stomach, and back. Officers saw the boy was covered in red marks and bruising. They believe the boy was hit approximately nine times by the paintball gun, according to the marks.
A neighbor witnessed the incident and confirmed what had happened to police. Allen-Barton was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery and was taken to the Marion County Jail.
Wow that is sad, you dont shoot your step son because he wont do his chores or wont go run in circles around as punishment.
