Salinas police officers arrested a couple who they say tried to sell their 6-month-old baby for $25 Tuesday night outside of Walmart. Police spokesman Officer Lalo Villegas said the father tried to sell the child around 7:20 p.m. outside the store on North Davis Road.

Villegas said Salinas resident Patrick Fousek, 28, had approached two women and asked to use their cell phone. After he finished, police said, Fousek asked the women, who were playing with the baby, if they would like purchase his daughter for $25. “They thought he was joking,” Villegas said. “They laughed, but he was very persistent. That’s when they knew this guy was serious.”

Police said Fousek immediately left and went to the car where the mother, Samatha Tomasini, 20, was waiting. As the couple drove away, Villegas said, the two women were able to get the pair’s license plate number.

Around 1 a.m. Wednesday, Villegas said, police officers tracked down the couple at their residence on the 700 block of East Romie Lane. Police arrested Fousek and Tomasini on suspicion of child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Fousek, police said, was also on probation. The pair were booked into the Monterey County Jail.

Police said the baby has since been taken by Child Protective Services.

You get a lot more than just credits. Children offer huge deductibles and like 3 different credits depending on the age.

But I hope those two idiots never figure that out and try to have a crapload of kids.

I'd totally expect this in the town next to me honestly. Something about a Wal-Mart in east Texas that makes me cringe.
It's not the end of civilization, but you can see it from there

SALINAS, Calif. (AP) - Jail officials in California say a father accused of trying to sell his baby for $25 outside a Walmart is recovering after other inmates beat him.

Thirty-eight-year-old Patrick Fousek and 20-year-old Samantha Tomasini, of Salinas, pleaded not guilty to child endangerment and drug charges Friday.

Fousek appeared in court with a bruised eye and stitches. Sheriff's Cmdr. Mike Richards said the man was attacked Thursday at the Monterey County Jail. He also suffered two cracked ribs and is now being held away from the general population.

Fousek is accused of approaching two women Wednesday and asking if they'd like to purchase his 6-month-old.

He and Tomasini were arrested a few hours later at their home, and Child Protective Services took the baby

a lil justice, not enough but a lil

He's 38 in this article and 28 in the other one?

If he's 38 and the girl is 20...that's a big difference.

And yeah, a little justice, definitely not enough for what they put the kid through.
