i had an IBM think pad b4 this and my god that thing was expensive, But built like a tank. IBM was bought out.

Core 2 Duo Lappys are in a good spot for buying now. You could go for an i3, i5, or i7 lappy but I feel like ther a bit spendy still (JMO). If you want to game as Subb was asking look for one with a graphics card... Not needed in alot of cases but nice with a 15" or 17" monitor for gaming. Bundled software is nice too but watch out for bloatware.

go for msi cx420 its cheap but pretty powerful. :) just bought mine this week. its very quiet and doesnt heat up..its been ON since the day I bought it and no sign of problems. :)
