So me and my brother were discussing hookers, im not sure what bought it up but what he said made logical sense and I will explain it.
He said to me, marriage is like prostitution, and here's why after being marriage for a few years or so the only way the guy will get sex is by spending money on his wife, dinner and a movie, a phat diamond necklace, anything that involves some money, twilight, fail.
and to be clear the definition, not word for word, of prostitution is: goods or service given in return for sexual favors or acts.
So by that we know that by giving someone money, or service such as giving them a ride, and getting in return sex is illegal by definition.
So by husbands having to take their wives out, not saying its a bad thing if its a special date or anything, spending money on them and after hours of waiting they get sexual intercourse.
So by reason marriage after a certain amount of years becomes illegal >.>

Right.... of course girls will only sleep with you if you buy them expensive things. And of course they never buy anything for their husbands. Oh stereotypes <3
I think you're missing the entire point of what marriage is supposed to actually be about
In any case, this certainly isn't a new thought @_@
edit: My joke could be misinterpreted to be an attack <3
In any case, sorry, but I don't find sexism funny <3
and sub: I find the topic inflammatory in itself. Joke or not, it's still offensive.
whoaaa isnt that an argumentative and inflamatory post right there.
On topic tho its meant as a joke n its kinda funny

prostitution isn't paying for sex, its paying for them to leave when you're done

Comparing prostitution to marriage is just a terrible way to put it. You'd have to know what prostitution is first and from the explanations in the first post, even though some of it may be true, it's still very wrong.
And pointing to this to just females is just "wronger" and sexist. You have plenty of guys that marry for money and then get turned on when the wife buys him a car.
Either way, keep this topic non-offensive or I will close it and move it where no one can access it.

Its not meant to be offensive its a joke.
This world is too tight up anymore cant even make a simple joke without getting judged. We need to get away from that.

Lots of jokes can be offensive and clearly some people have taken offense to this thread. It's not only this thread, it goes for every topic out there.

Actually I'm pretty sure the Boston Tea Party was meant to be a political statement to the King of England that expressed their hatred of the taxes.
You know.
A Powerful message.
Just like the ones today.
I don't think it was a joke.
This world is too uptight, Joker. I agree with you. Anything you say can and will be used against you, that is no lie.
I wish things were taken the way they should, not the way others want them to be seen and taken.

Its hard anymore to have fun and make a joke, but thats the advancement of society.
I like to have harmless fun and I grew up in a military family so we have a very old saying "Words dont hurt fist and bullets do."

Yea. I didn't choose the tea party because of it's historical significance but because of its name. Just wanted to tell you that things aren't always seen the same by everyone. If you ask someone about the Boston Tea Party from Mars I'm sure he'll think it was a very fun party.

Actually, people have different view points, and they can be legitimate, even if you don't share them.
I find it derogatory and sexist. Respect for women: it's important. Time and again there are remarks made on this forum that are demeaning to women, as the majority of members are male and perhaps do not realize.
Please take the time to consider your posts. Talk about whatever you want in your own circles, but I don't see how equating women to prostitutes in a very stereotypical way is okay. :)
If it were a racist joke, it would be the same thing, except a complaint would be taken seriously.

Well I dont disrespect women, never have, as i stated before I grew up in a military family with that saying which is pretty much our family motto.
So its hard for me to see how its offensive.

Words are actually very important, Joker. They are pretty much the basis of our entire civilization. You guys are making it out like I am crazed and super angry about this. I'm not. I just think it was a post made in poor judgment. You (or your brother) make huge generalizations about women, and many people do on this forum, which is rather irksome. I don't think anything in that post was respectful to women at all, so while you may be respectful in person, it is not coming across here.
I understand that you were making a joke -- but just because you may have meant it harmlessly, does not mean that the joke itself doesn't portray very disrespectful sentiments, and I don't feel that this is particularly appropriate in this setting. If you were to say it somewhere else, it would have a somewhat different context, if you catch what I am saying.

Well words might be the basis of our civilization but that doesnt mean that everything has to be taken in a critical sense.
My brother and I dont make huge generalizations about women. We make law enforcement related jokes. Is that wrong? No. That would be like saying Chris Rock is racist every-time he says the word "cracker," Or George Carlin, may he rest in peace, was a homophobe every time he said something about a gay, which he did once or twice.
Cause I make a bad joke doesnt mean im sexist, I generalize women, I disrespect women, a joke is a joke. A joke is something meant to be funny and you hit and miss with them.
So I missed with this one, got a laugh out of some people not you.

its not all wives that only have sex after a date or something special...
but I can imagine if their husband became fat and lazy that they would only do it after getting something ^_^

Having been marreid now for 19 years part of me agrees quite a bit with the OP, however, I think the Righteous Brothers had it right, you lose that loving feeling. After the newness wears off and everything becomes routine then the only way to get what you want from the male perspective is to shower them with gifts, which makes the woman feel special and wanted.
With going on about the lack of sex after marriage....
Did you ever stop to think that after awhile the husband stops spending TIME on his wife, and therefore she stops feeling the need to express her love in a physical way?
Edit: Missed Ops post while I was posting... this is where the TIME thing comes in... we can make our own money and buy our own stuff... just spend time with us and we're golden.
And regardless of if it was meant to be a joke or not is irrelevant. Would you say a racist joke to someone of that race? Why would you post a sexist joke on a public thread where you know women will read it. It's just rude.

A joke is a joke.
putting a spin of sex, race, class, nationality, whatever means you are not open to the joke yet look for flaws that make the joke offensive to you.
Calling a joke a sexist joke, a racist joke is trying to blur the fact that its a joke and its meant to be funny.
I will go back to my Chris Rock example. He says cracker and makes cracker jokes, yet he isnt shunned.
George Carlin made references using the N word. He was never shunned.
someone will say they are famous, yes but they still made a joke, and that is what I did. Doesnt matter if they are famous or not a joke is a joke.

I don't think they mean that at all - a joke's a joke. Yes, people have their own opinions, but most take almost everything out of context and flip out.
Would you say a racist joke to someone of that race?
Yes, actually, I would. You don't get upset every time black people say the N word do you? Because that's just as racist as anyone else using it, as the most basic of levels.
It's not so much that they're saying it to demean anyone, it's supposed to be light-hearted. However, in these times you can't take a step without someone getting offended and getting all up-in-arms about even the smallest topic.
