After seven movies, more than $730 million in worldwide box office and 30 million DVDs sold, the grisly horror franchise Saw is hanging it up after the final film, Saw 3D, out Oct. 29.

Producers and star Tobin Bell will make the announcement Friday at Comic-Con during the film's footage presentation. "It's time to stop," says Oren Koules, a producer on all the Saw movies. "We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell."

Yeah right, they'll take a little break and re-boot it cause it's hollywood

they get to charge extra bucks for you to watch it, so i expect it to continue to increase.

Just because its 3d doesnt make it suck less.

I personally think 3D is crucial to the progress of video entertainment, so of course they're going to still use it, especially since people like 3D and it allows them to charge higher ticket prices. however, interest in it has gone down...

that being said, i might see this but probably not, seeing as i haven't seen 5 or 6, and i had no idea what was going on for most of 4

What they need to do is follow the example of Doom, the movie sucked I know, but they made an interesting attempt to a first person mode which was awesome. So if something like that could be applied to saw it would deepen the story.

they've been doing first person camera angles for ages. I guess the director just hasn't wanted to do that for saw.

no, i haven't seen doom, but i hear parts of it were like watching somebody play a FPS

Only movie ive seen a FPS is in doom, and it is cool its the best action part of the entire screwed up movie. Cant even follow a straight edge story line WTF.

But i remember V for vendetta they did a first person camera view at the start but nothing beyond that.

I think they need to add more if it. its really awesome.

in lots of horror movies it shows what's going on through the eyes of the killer.

Halloween (1978 ) and Halloween 2 (1980) come to mind

there are also a good deal of scenes in the friday the 13th series of the killer watching campers from first person perspective, and a scene where jason stabs somebody in first person mode in the second one.

I hate the Saw series and of course there doing that reality TV show scream queens to determine who is going to be in the next saw movie..

Fail.

I swear to god they got a tv show for everything, how much fat you can lose, how big a virgin you are, how shallow women are. The list goes on and on and on...

I know we got backstory on john but I would like some more. I know why he got into it and his first victim but something is missing I dont know why but its like something is just missing from his story to complete the puzzle.

Yes, it is Hollywood and you would think since they said SAW 4 was the last that they must be yanking our chain BUT we caught up with Tobin Bell and Kevin Greutert at Con last weekend and they sound pretty certain its the last.
What say you?

considering they were writing 5 and 6 before 4 came out, i don't think that was ever intended to be the last one
