Is there some sort of winrar software or any extraction/compression software for Mac?

Just google "winrar for mac" and you'll get a few links. There'll be some different ones you can download to try for it. I personally suggest using cnet, but that's all me. Use whatever one you think will best fit your needs.

I use Stuffit Expander (http://just.stuffit.com/products/stuffit.html) and it's the holy grail/go to archive utility on Mac to date. It's not free (although you can get a free trial.) XSlipknot's suggestion might be a suitable freeware alternative, though I've never tried it myself.
