Xbox live needs to do something so little kids cant get on, yes I know that would be damn near impossible, etc etc. But this crap is just getting old.

A 22-year-old Florida man faces 16 counts of possession of child pornography, after allegedly soliciting a 10-year-old boy for pictures via Xbox Live.

Police say Polk City resident Timothy Hammerstone confessed to receiving naked pictures of a 10-year-old boy from California after asking him to join his online gaming group on the Xbox 360. According to authorities, Hammerstone offered the boy 1,600 Microsoft points - $20 worth - to send him naked pictures.

Hammerstone was arrested last night in his home, where police deputies discovered a flash drive containing 40 naked photographs of the boy in various poses. He is currently being held in jail without bond.

In a video posted on the Bay News 9 website, the Xbox Live profile for RSB Phoenix CO was flashed. Visiting that profile on Xbox.com shows the profile holder as the founder of gaming group RSB, the Relentless Society of Brothers.

Members of the RSB could earn RSB gamertags by going up in the ranks. Police say Hammerstone created special accounts so he could communicate with his victim or victims without their parents' knowledge.

Hammerstone also maintains a Facebook page with 255 friends, many who appear to be younger males.

Polk City Sheriff Grady Judd believes there are more victims.

Stories such as this are showing up with alarming regularity these days. Now, more than ever, parents need to be aware of the parental controls available for their children's video game consoles, and above all else, keep an eye on their online activity.

I don't think Xbox should do anything. I think parents should know what the hell their kids are doing. I mean seriously. That goes with the cussing and everything. Everyone is so quick to point the blame everywhere else but where it needs to be. It's not Microsoft's job to babysit. Parents should pay more attention to their children.

Ya its not Microsoft's problem, but you do know that the parents might want to sue Microsoft for not babysitting the kids properly.

The parents dont give a damn what they do online it keeps them out of their hair.

Don't you have to agree to MS terms when first signing up? Lowest age I've seen in around 13 and if you're younger, you need written/signed permission from parents. I don't know how well microsoft enforces that but either way, if they sue MS, they won't get anywhere. Mainly because they probably have something in their terms about how nothing is their fault, but also because they're the largest corporation in the world and I'm sure they'll find a way to negate everything you do where the parents will just end up wasting money on lawyers and other costs.

it's not xbox's fault. i mean i really do hate playing online games sometimes just cause guys send me pictures of their dicks -_- and it is disgusting! that made me learn never to open up a picture message from someone not on my friends list

but i hope that dude goes to jail. he deserves it! that little boy is disgusting for sending nudes to the guy too. like ugh! 10 years old? what is this world coming to? seriously!

it all begins with the parents buying the 'rated M' games at a gamestop... (sigh) that just disappoints me that some dont bother with what their children are playing...

irrelevant, i know, but thats just horrible.

Well we as gamers know microsoft isnt at bay for what happens. But the parents dont see it like that. Do remember video games are suppose to be a babysitter, so by that token the parents expect the games to babysit while they want to do other things and to shut the kid up.

There will always be a few bad babysitters...like the ones that literally sit on babies (as in abuse them) so to trust the internet fully will eventually disappoint one way or another (not for everyone of course, just the unlucky ones with the not so smart children).

Also can't believe the 10 year old kid just sent over naked pics...kids with technology these days...sometimes I wish we lived in the stone ages.

NASTY.

pedosew.

Theres not microsoft CAN do. I mean, there's how many users? The most they can do is read any abuse reports, and ban pedos when they're found lol.

haha that kid is gonna be messed up.
He's already almost a prostitute.

Hmm .. news like this makes me despair for the world ..

Oddly the first baby-sitter I can remember was gorgeous, so I'd probably have been cool with it :S

OK, so not a massively intellectual response, but a response .. I'm still warming up remember :P
