VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) - One woman was arrested in Vincennes Tuesday evening after an incident involving a bomb.

Officers from the Vincennes Police Department responded to JCPenny's in reference to a shoplifter around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The shoplifter was identified as 34-year-old Geri Rodriguez.

After police escorted Rodriguez off the property, officers searched her vehicle.

Police found marijuana, methamphetamine, syringes and a metal cylinder that appeared to be a pipe bomb.

The surrounding areas, including stores at the Vincennes Plaza, were immediately evacuated.

The Vincennes Fire Department, Indiana State Police Bomb Squad and the Knox County Sheriff's Department were all contacted.

The Bomb Squad arrived and detonated the device.

No injuries or property damage resulted in the detonation of the device.

Rodriguez faces charges including possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a device that appears to be an explosive.


I know for a fact we will talk about this in WMD tonight, but wow I guess I gone and pissed someone off and they were after me.

well the body was an eventuality lol. So Im glad that a simple shoplifting arrest led to preventing something major.

They probably went to her car to see if she stole from any other stores, I bet they where pretty surprised lol, I would be.
