Today, on my way to school, I noticed in my rear view mirror that this teen girl was texting while driving. It looked like her hands were not touching the steering wheel. From what I saw, she was holding her cellphone with both hands. so pretty much she was driving with her palms or forearms. at a traffic light, when the lights flashed red, I pushed the brakes & came to a complete stop. & what do you know, she hits me. Dont worry, I'm fine, I have no serious injury. We both pull off to the side & exchange information. So now what I gotta do is to show this to the police & all that stuff on how she hit me.
Anyway, what I mean to say is, please don't be those people who text & drive. That includes being distracted. Can't Facebook/myspace/twitter updates wait until you reach your destination?
Also, from this experience, it triggered an idea. Imagine this: the government & automobile companies should make some kind of tracking device & put it somewhere hidden in the vehicles they make. That way, it will be easier to catch people who get distracted or text while driving. Do you think this will be a good idea? Or people should be issued stickers that say: 'hang up & drive.' -- its a cheaper alternative. I mean the government is making laws not to text while driving or talking on the cellphone while driving. But still, people are stubborn these days.

glad to hear you're fine. I hate people who do that, I see it all the time and it's scarier in NYC with a million cars on the road...
It's one thing to check on things when you're at a red light but driving and texting is far worse than anything else, even talking on your phone and driving. At least your eyes are forward but with texting, your eyes are away.
How's your car though?

My state is currently trying to push a bill into law that makes it a 250 dollar offense to do anything with a cell phone while driving. Unless it is an emergency.
This is annoying I am tired of people driving and texting causing accidents, that should be an arrestable offense. Heres why.
They are driving a 5,000 pound death machine and they are paying more attention to their texts which shows a lack of caring for human life and there selves Which in and of itself is reckless driving.
Arrest them for a Mis, of any level, will scare people, unless they are completely stupid.
Just my two cents.

Arresting them and processing them will just end up costing the city/state money. They should just higher the fine.
The ticket in NYC right now is a $150. They need to make it to $600-$700 before people start paying attention. A few months ago, they gave out like 4000 tickets for texting alone (read it in the newspaper, forgot when exactly).

Good you are fine. :D
Text and drive is usual routine here.
Everyone seem to be text and yet driving.
But only with a single hand (not both in your case)

Lol today I was going to school talking to a friend of mine. Out of no where, this car honked to me. Yeah I was in the middle of the road :-P
When I steped aside, the girl passes (yes a female driver) talking at her cellphone >_> So instead of getting mad at me, she smiled and said "I'm sorry" lol
This happened right in front of a public school... Ai ai muchacho!

That is true... But this is not acceptable. I have no love for anyone who uses texting while driving. If the life of others means nothing and you text so much they shouldnt have their license in the first place. They dont have a right to drive so.... if they get... 4 tickets for driving while texting they start losing their license, starting at.. oh 6 months.

jeez girls need to put there phones away when they drive its ridiculous!
I hate when I see girls or guys texting its like driving should be your only focus if you have to turn off your phone and throw it in the backseat so you can't get while driving or pull over if you have to send a text..
I am glad your okay but she could have killed you if she rear ended you hard enough where you would go in the intersection
glad your okay kenoi! :)

This kind of things are horrible to hear/watch... Some years ago, almost midnight, a girl was passing the road and a driver hitted her in the arm.
Just a few stitches and some wounds, she turned out ok. The driver, instead of stopping, just runned away. There were no accidents, so police said he wasn't drunk probably. The girl also said she saw him with his hand on his ear, probably talking in the phone.
Too dark to see what really happened and he's face, but he should at least freaking stoped!

Those texting while driving stuff is rampant too here in the Philippines. A Car that Eliminates phone signals Should be invented now.
Kenoi
09-24-2010, 03:06 PM
that sounds like a good idea too. a vehicle that eliminates the signals of cellphones.
but then you never know, people will still text even if there's not a signal -- like save it as a draft or somethin.

Eliminating cell phone signals won't be popular because the driver isn't the only one in the car all the time. You have passengers and sometimes there are emergency situations.
I drive and I use a bluetooth when speaking on my cell phone and even then I try to keep the conversations brief because I know it distracts and if it has to be a long conversation, I pull over and talk for the time being.

a crazy idea is put a phone in the call. We got onstar so if there is sometype of emergency situation onstar will contact you if you were hit or you can call them.
Having sometype of jammer in the vehicle would be epic while it is on and in motion. if the vehicle is park and still on thats ok till they drop it into drive.
I will admit I have driven while talking on the phone but I do not stay on very long unless its family calling but even still my eyes are on the road and Im paying attention to the idiots around me and I know what is going on around my vehicle.

Absolutely not. Being a US American, with the ongoing tensions of government control vs. people's rights, this if nothing else would trigger our next revolutionary war. I mean...California not passing Prop 19 was pretty big, but not enough to start a war. Obama is lucky he didn't commence Operation: Scratch Amendment 2 or else we may have already been in the revolutionary predicament. The TSA is breaching revolutionary-war-fundamentals by feeling up people by law who don't want to pass through a radiation-emitting detector.
Be careful what you wish for. One day the government is tracking your car, the next day you get pulled over by a cop who never saw you speeding because "the government tracked you at 80 mph."
:)
