There's been a bunch of reviews (http://www.macksites.co.uk/GameBank/index.php?topic=701.0) for New Vegas already, but seeing as I needed a break anyway I thought I'd do my own, or at least my experiences of it after almost 30 hours. As usual you can read the transcript of this review (http://www.macksites.co.uk/GameBank/reviews/fonv-rev.doc) and there's lots more New Vegas information including resources, achievement help, mods, etc etc in the Game-Bank 'Fallout' forum (http://www.macksites.co.uk/GameBank/index.php?board=26.0). Apologies if the sound is a little muffled .. I need a new mic it seems. Anyway, hope you enjoy it.

I was looking forward to this review. Game looks really good. You mentioned that the radio was good - that's one reason why I used to just drive around running over people back in GTA - the radio had some good music and some funny commentaries.

Never played any fallout games. But it's nice to watch gameplay vids of games.

Very nice review.

And I know how you feel with the withdrawal symptoms! I get that when editing gaming videos.

You just had to didn't you!? Lol! Are you suposed to be a girl, or you choose so? I loved the begining of Fallout 3, where you were a baby and blah blah... Is it still like that?

I chose to be a girl .. if I'm gonna stare at something for many hours it might as well be something appealing :)

And no, you're fully grown at the start .. and as i said in the review you kinda get owned in the first 2 minutes of the game Kill Bill style! The character set-up is kinda you trying to remember who you are - your name etc after being left for dead.

I've never played any Fallout games, but my boyfriend is giving me his old tv and a new ps3, so I think this might be the first game I play. Thanks for the review :)

True enough .. although I have actually surprised/shocked myself with how much I've got into it .. even moreso than FO3 which I liked a lot too. I'm currently level 23 with 43 hours played .. that's not 'amazing' or anything .. but a little more than usual for me hehe.

You should check out FO3 if you're not sure about paying the full price for FONV .. I'm sure it's quite cheap now (on Steam it's just over £20 for the basic game and £29 for the game of the year edition with all the DLCs). But even so, New Vegas will probably drop in price for Christmas anyway, and by then some of the bugs will be gone too (not that there's masses of them).

Thanks for the comment about the review :)

Ah yes, the price. You make a valid point. Fall Out 3 it is :D

Well .. look into it nearer the time if I were you .. for me FONV is better than FO3 so far, and has the potential to be better after the same patch-fest FO3 went through. But hey, your call ofc :)

And, as a totally unrelated thing to get the topic back on track .. some lawls ..

I'm at school so I didn't want to bother people in class/in the food court with a video but I read your transcript... I feel like I've been cheated part of the review for not being treated to your accent, but I still, at the very least, got to chuckle at your deliciously British spelling of words like "centre." ;)

The review looks AWESOME jango! I really feel like, after reading it, that I have a tangible idea of what it will really FEEL like as I play the game. You really have a clear writing style and the focus to discuss the elements of the gameplay experience that are really the important ones; very, very nicely done :) Oh, and, of course, your trademark dry wit is the perfect seasoning to sprinkle over the whole review to really make it uniquely yours - wouldn't be a review by jango without a straight-faced suggestion to buy diapers!

This game is single player, yes? After reading your review I'm surprised how much I want to get into the game - you really sold it to me. I don't think I'll afford the time to it, though, without the promise of being able to wrestle my friends into playing it with me... but your review has still left me pretty damn tempted.

+rep!

Lmfao .. wow .. thanks!! Hmm .. I must owe you money or something ..

Not often I get that kinda response .. although often I'm grateful, like a Dickensian pauper with an empty bowl of gruel, for any scraps related to the review in people's comments hehe :p Sometimes it's like whizzing in the wind .. not here necessarily, but in general.

And yes Dilleh, it's single player (you won't need more) .. and I hope when you get time later you get a chance to watch the review itself - who knows, you might change your mind about the whole thing (the game and the review lol).

Still, thanks for taking the time to comment so extensively - much appreciated, and ofc for the rep too.

P.s. Now, go buy some diapers ..

lol .. well on my first playthrough I left them with him. However, on the second playthrough I ended up killing him and taking over the casino pretty much .. all for the sake of an achievement lol :p

But I know what you mean .. some of the factions in FONV are freaky, and you can get rep with pretty much all of them. So in other words you can be a goody-two-shoes if you want, a real bastard, or a odd mixture of the two .. for example in my second playthrough I became a drug runner for the Power Gang, a cannibal for the White Glove Society and joined Caesar's Legion (who like to crucify people) - something that other factions looked down on (I know, what a surprise). Still, it made the end-game a different experience so it was worth it hehe.

I love your reviews. Gives one all the information they need and makes 'em laugh.
I'm so tempted to get this (and with the way you've been ranting and raving about, i'm even more tempted). But I was wondering, how long does it take to get used to the weird heads-up aiming thing? I played fallout 3 for a couple of days and never quite understood what was going on.

Anywho, thank-yee for another lovely review :)

It doesn't take any time at all really Rai .. very easy.

Thanks for the comments about the review, glad you enjoyed it.
