So, today I installed Windows Live Essentials 2011 because I thought it was something good. But my Messenger, got all messed up! Now I desinstaled the whole thing, and download the so suposed Windows Live Messenger 2010, but everytime I start the .exe file, it just goes automatically to WLE2011.
What can I do to install the old one I had, Windows Live Messenger 2010? Please help, I'm getting really p*ss*d off at this idiotic new program ='(

Sounds like the program is just auto updating. Try the 2009 version. You can find more versions here: new msn messenger 2010 free download (http://en.softonic.com/s/new-msn-messenger-2010)

Probably, and I'll never use it! And your solution seemed to work Linux, thanks! Oh and sorry for putting this on the wrong thread, I just went on panic and decided to put it on GF Lounge. Thanks again!

It is really stupid. And no, if it was in beta they wouldn't have put out an update to everyone who uses it.

The 2 biggest problem to me were the new weird layout and that your nickname had to be you account name Profile. Basically, you can't change your nickname without changing your name to what you want. That's just... weird.

Glad it worked.
Sometimes updates just mess things up. I rarely use MSN or any other or any other messenger anymore...I think I still have one of the old versions, like 7.0. I know for a fact the one on my laptop is really old...never updated - never had a reason to.

I heard many bad things with that one. my friend updated & she cannot downgrade it back to the previous version... like something about changing names & updates or status messages. I'll tell my friend about that link you supplied linux. Thanks.
Yeah I just got the update too.. I'm not a fan either... but I'll just get used to it.... I'm too lazy to uninstall and reinstall especially when I use skype most of the time now...

Aha! I wondered what that MS crap was that popped up this morning .. I kinda just clicked the 'yeah, whatever' button and it did its thing lol.
I might have to check out the Essentials .. I'm hoping they installed donuts.

I hear people are having trouble downgrading to 2010. I reinstalled 2009 and it installed fine.
I think most people's main complaint is that you have to change your account name (online) to change your display name. It's odd and.. weird. and you have to put a last name so its like FFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
Also other things. I just.. really don't like it lol. Not just because it's change and I fear change. I'm okay with change. But this. This is just.. B |

I didn't even know there were Windows Live Messenger 2011, never installed it. I hear people said the going auto full screen or something. Isn't that one still in Beta Test?

No, I just download it recently and it's ain't beta.
They make new improvement and Aniki I don't think you should try the old version again. the newest version is better than the old version.
If you still wanna install the old version, then go try uninstall the 2011 version.

Agreed with that. Steam is improving their system while MS seems to be...screwing things up. But I haven't used MSN fully like I used to. The only messenger I use nowadays is steam.
