So today I was suppose to get my new hard drive loaded with windows vista, I get a call from the techie who is going to install it at 8 saying he will be here at 6. yay for me, an hour later, ya your part didnt come in.. Yet I was informed by my dad the part has reached the techie and I would be getting it today.

SO on my facebook I put a status of "
Please go burn in hell for promising me that my hard-drive would come in today and then lying. I have **** to do and your forcing me to wait because of your bastard ways. Please burn in hell"

Now i got an email from a dell tech support and Im going to explain everything and hopefully get something done in the next 12 hours or so.

Lol,

Dell always sucks tbh.. But can't you just install the hdd yourself? Its so simple..

Perhaps a warranty restricts him from that?

Timmo is correct, by opening my case, which ive done once already by a friend, it voids the warranty and doing so I lose my free hard-drive and therefore my dad gets pissy and makes me wait till x-mas to get a new drive. Also by allowing the Techie to install it if he destroys any computer hardware its on him to fix not me. I could have done it myself or let my friend done but I rather be on the safe side just in case something is destroyed.

I hate dell.... You needed me living close to you - could have installed the hdd for you safely in 2 minutes. But I would have to wear my ski mask.

I do have a question. My friend was going to sell me a 1TB hard drive loaded with Windows 7 for 50 bucks, legit copy, is that illegal to have? Cause I dont see a problem with it since it is a legit copy

and shixx

Dont make me call your grandmother.

Nope, as long as the copy of Windows is legit, it's good.

Hmmm, my dad is under the "Belief" that if the copy isnt registered to you its illegal, which annoyed me could have had a new hard drive and been back in my room by now. Greedy ahole he is.

Anywho.. Another question.. Why wont my hard drive come prepared with all updates given out by Windows? Why do I have to do it myself?

Well it's perfectly legal. As long as your friend isn't making any copies of it and selling it for profit, it's fine.

As for hard drives not coming with all updates...I can't answer that. I never got a hard drive replaced your way, if I get a new hard drive, it's usually blank.

Ahh, 50 bucks for a TB hard drive isnt bad.

Well after waiting a week almost I should have the drive today in about an hour and 15.

So I will be updating for a good few hour or so.

Edit:

Ok dell can go suck a fat one... Im getting the shaft here and its pissing me off to the end of sanity, which is odd cause I lost my sanity years ago. I get a call at 10 from the tech saying "Im on my way the hard-drive should be in your hands, according to my work order." an hour and half later, took an hour and a ****ing half to figure out the hard drive wasnt at his place of work and that my hard drive was missing....

So Now 12:10pm I have to wait another 24 hours due to dell's ****ty service.... I pretty much told them that if my hard drive isnt here im filing a complaint with whoever i can, BBB and anyone else so I can destroy their rep, and payments on the computer will stop until they fix it or give me a new one... So in the next 24 hours if nothing is done im going to ****ing go nuts..

it's not bad at all. I bought my 1tb for $45 a few months ago on a sale - it was $45 after mail in rebate.

I'm not surprised about the service they have been giving you so far. That's one reason why I don't like them - another is that they use cheap parts but price them pretty high. They also make it pretty hard for you to upgrade stuff on your own (meaning they have customized cases that doesn't really allow you to add on more stuff if you need it).

P.S. the BBB is complete crap. They won't do anything. You'd be better off consulting with a lawyer because I'm sure what they're doing is a violation of their own terms.

Thanks for the heads up hawhaw

Goodluck on your quest.

You right Linux, but I have to do something, if anything Im pretty sure my professor could help me out. I dont have the money to spend on a lawyer to see if I have a case or not.

But if they are going to play me for a fool, and in.... 14 hours or so they dont have my hard drive here or what not im stopping payments on my computer and they will buy me a brand new one. :)

Ah, it's an installment thing? You don't even have to stop...just threaten to stop payments or threaten to speak to a lawyer...it works more often than you'd think.

When GTA Vice City came out, I got it for my PS2, I brought the game home, open the wrapping, and the CD isn't even inside...my dad actually wrote to Sony and they replaced the game very quickly and gave me like a year's subscription their magazine for free :D got free demos and everything for a while...years ago...feels like last week.

Interesting.. I Will make those threats even though they wont be threats, but hey its the only term i can think of to call what I will do :P.

I will tell you this. I refuse to use another dell when i get my own PC. Might go back to HP, wanted an alien ware but due to dell buying it out I have said no to that.

You don't have to directly threaten them...just make references to them.

For example:

"I'm gonna have a talk with my dad's lawyer and see what he thinks about the issue, he deals with stuff like this all the time."

And HP is pretty good. My first computer was an HP. Burned out just a few years back. Before I started building my own, my other computer was HP. It's still running. I made some upgrades and gave it to my sis. It's like 8 years old now and still runs very well (probably because I look at it and fix problems every now and then). I also have a HP laptop at home which is pretty good. The sad part is that it runs Vista so I try to avoid it.

So yeah...for premade, I'd definitely recommend HP. They aren't as restrictive with their cases. You can upgrade stuff much easier than with the Dell crap.

Never tried Alienware.

Ski mask? I don't think so. A hockey mask and a crazy working chainsaw would be less scarier right?

that's what I usually have, I thought a change in attire would be nice.

Ehh with how my anger is right now I most likely would threaten them like that.. well I would tell them im getting a lawyer or reporting them to someone.
