Considering the 360 installed base is going to be much higher than PS3 for a while (if not forever), 360 is the key dev platform when it comes to next gen consoles.

EA prioritizing 360 over PS3

Earlier this week, New York Times writer Matt Richtel blogged about the reasons behind differences in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of some games.

In talking about the issue, Richtel cited analysts as saying that development for the PS3 is more challenging than for the Xbox 360 because game makers have had less time with the hardware. He also linked it to delays of the PS3 versions of games like Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor: Airborne and Skate.

Richtel revisited the topic after hearing back from EA about the issue. A representative with the publisher told the writer that as a release date nears, the company sometimes readjusts the manpower on the projects to complete the Xbox 360 version first.

With a larger installed base for Microsoft's console, the rep said it makes financial sense to get that version of a game out first and maximize potential sales. The representative also noted that in the last generation, it made more sense for the publisher to focus on PlayStation 2 versions of games over those on the Xbox because of the platform's massive installed user base.

just wait until the ps3 price goes down...everyone'll get one, then games will start flooding in.

You realise the Xbox 360 already cheaper to develop for a lot more people buying them and price cuts every day and more people buying them for pennies off ebay really doesn't help SONY in their approach of "pay it all off in one then you get to play online for free" rather than "buy a core for ?80 off ebay with a new dvd drive 3games and 2 controllers than pay ?5 a month to play loads of games and get exclusive xbox live privileges which your buddies on the ps3 live without and say they don't actually want" If you have technical knowledge you can pick up an xbox 360 for ?35 and fix it for ?13

Sony were too slow and they released their console at too high of a price point to really compete with the Xbox 360. It'll never be as good of a price as the Xbox 360 and the 360 will always be more popular with soo many price ranges matching soo many budgets and the games a lot cheaper and big companies sponsoring free downloads etc. :) It's a good thing Peter Moore decided on this action it means games will probably be a lot better as EA aren't stretching their staff to cover all the consoles at once which is a smart move for EA as their games decrease in quality and they release them for more and more consoles.
