View Full Version : Do You STILL Play Video Games?

I saw this question asked on a different board and wanted to see the results here. The main premise of the question was: if you're an adult, without kids or with kids too young to play, do you still play video games?

How much time per week do you spend on average?

Do you have a hard time truly identifying yourself as a gamer as you gradually age and depart from the mainstream crowd of gaming (kids, teens, college students)?

I'm preferably looking for responses from unmarried gamers. No, this is not an attempt to hook up with other gamers. This is a serious question, in hopes of a serious response.

To be honest, I feel like games are starting to lose their nostalgia, so maybe I'm searching for other gamers (preferably over the age of 21) who feel the same way, or fear it?

Stressing the fact that this is in no way an attempt to meet anyone over the internet. Simply looking for discussion please. Thank you...

hours of week 20 plus

I am a college student and I dont have a hard time identify myself, my class times arent demanding on me.

Ehh I think it is and it isnt. I miss the old days of the epic games we played and grew up. Its... hard to explain how I feel cause i like the games of today but it lacks the touch the old school had.

......meanwhile, on topic, I'm 20 and I sometimes play video games. A lot of time i'm actually too lazy to play video games, but there are sometimes I don't want entertainment that'll just bounce off me (like puttin the tv on or throwin some music on) I want somethin I can get involved in, and i'll get into a game. Last winter, I spent an entire week playing Dragon Age nonstop, like 150+ hours. Sometimes I'll pick up a DS game and play it nonstop. A few weeks ago I played Force Unleashed a lot, but I had far less time on that and it took me shorter to finish it. Short answer is yes i do, but it's more of an on and off thing. I'll play em a lot for a while, I won't play for a while.

Well me only 16. Video games is still one of my hobbies. Without video games, its feel like you're feeling hunger.

im gonna be 30 , no children , im not a hardcore gamer .
i used to play nintendo until i was 12 and didnt play after , i found interest in gaming only 3 years ago . bought the gamecube to play zelda ocarina and windwaker and mario kart . those were my first 3d game , i had a hard time since i never had N64 , playstation or anything .

i ended up with a ps2 from my cousin for free and played Grand theft auto san andreas , i just felt in love with the game :0 now thats 1 years and a half ago ( still very late form the 2004 release ) . i played godfather ps2 after . i loved GTA style game .

to me , its all new but i dont think being a gamer is being like a" geek " nowadays . with online and the quality of games , almost everyone has interested in video games . anyone who has time

sure if you have 2 kids its hard to find time for this ,. but i dont have children and never had the desire to have any , im just like that . its not that gaming take too much of my time

as i said im not a hardcore gamer , only occasionnal games on a year .

i have a social life that pass before it for me ... it only spare time . and i can tell you almost everyone i know still play video games or got back to it .. the quality of games are just stunning graphically :) . its hard not to be interested .

i work , i practice sport ( snowboard , skate ) , and i play game .

but yeah growing older , when you have no children , people look at you bad if your not married and have children . just dont care about them .. their sometimes just jealous that you have free time and they dont cause they have 2 brats who consumed all their time .

Misery love company .. thats why people with children push childfree people to have .

I dont know about the future , but i think ill have an interest for a while in video games .

but like i said its all new for me . i just got back in 2008 by buying a new gamecube at the store for 40 $ ..

Im not defining my life on gaming . but i prefer that to watching mindless reality show at the t.v full of ads about crap i dont need . i dont watch t.v at all or follow a sports team hockey, basket , football and wont base my life on the outcome of a sport event .

:-P

i had my share of nightclubbing and seeing the nightlife circle around me :) in my early 20s so im done with it . i work full time now .

in the end its just taste .

as long as its spare time and doesnt consume all your life ( like some world of warcraft addict who built a second life around the game ) .. theres nothing to worry about .

just my opinion .
