View Full Version : Best Example of Worst In-Game Repetition

Ya know, those times in video games where the same thing happens over and over again; scenery, cut-scenes, sound effects...they all come and go, and then come and go again.......and again.........

I'll start with a few:

1) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2...the Wilhelm scream....yep...if you haven't yet noticed it, just listen for it! How crappy, and repetitive, and every time it happens I think of an old western film, and suddenly my attention is pulled away and I switch to Fable III. Which leads me to my next example...

2) Fable III.....NPC dialogue......this can really go into effect with all GTA games, or any free-roaming RPGs like fable III, that include repetitive dialogue. Sometimes, even in Fable III which is disappointing and shameful in the industry of video games, NPCs will say the same thing twice in a row. How First-GTA of them to let that happen.

3) Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time and other installments).......Dungeon Chest Cut-Scenes.........omg, a dungeon chest, I wonder if it holds a key that looks exactly like the keys from all the other dungeons chests I've opened. But, don't worry, Japanese robots will prevail, and the circular camera effect will happen again, and light will shimmer from the box, and then...a crappy cartoon version of a key will appear above the chest with trumpets hailing in the background.

4) Halo: Reach.....rocks and scenery.......wow. Just.....wow. Same stuff over and over again, in multiplayer and campaign mode. The same looking rocks...everywhere...as if Reach was formed by odds that SOMEHOW in that particular area of the universe, rocks all formed with the same temperature and manner of destruction/erosion in order to form such perfectly-matching rocks in different areas of the planet. Wow.

Well anyway, I'd like to hear some of your gripes about video game repetition.

The first Assassins Creed was extremely repetitive. How many times did I have to listen to a damn public speaker talk before I had to kill him?!?!? It frustrated me so much.

hmm I mean I would say reach had some repetition but I don't think it was that bad at how you are portraying it
but thats just me
