It is based on the manga series Kuuki Ningyo by Yoshiie Gōda, which was serialized in the seinen manga magazine Big Comic Original,[1] and is about an inflatable doll that develops a soul and falls in love.

There are a ton of movies like this, actually. My friends and I have a habit of renting horror movies at the store that look like they will be absolutely awful and hilarious, and there are quite a few (non-foreign) ones with inflatable/"love dolls" that like come to life.. there was one where the doll got jealous of the guy's interest in a real girl or something and then tortured and killed him or whatever @_@ I think... it's kinda fuzzy.

Anyway... yeah o_o That movie was weird o_o
