This thread is specifically directed towards forum MODs. :)

I certainly don't wanna be the guy who gripes about everything but is there any moderation to what happens in the rep department of this forum? In other words have you as MODs ever altered how someone voted towards someone's REP because you felt it was spam?

I just got a negative rep for this response:

To me, this is spamming the rep. Personally it is one of the reasons I think rep shouldn't be anonymous, but that is simply my opinion as a noob forum member.

Whatever, it's just a negative rep mark, but...seems a little spam-like considering my post really wasn't THAT repulsive. I've said worse ;)

Okay, that is all :) Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any information regarding this matter.

Reputation comments are all opinions and people are entitled to their own.

We don't change reps or even touch them unless we see someone abusing the privilege. Meaning, they go around repping random people just so they can come back and give you negative rep for no reason.

I wouldn't consider the rep you received abusive or spam. And reps are anonymous because we don't want people confronting others for negative reps which can cause drama. And we don't want anyone to feel like they shouldn't express their opinion that's of disagreement because they are afraid they'll be told off by the recipient.

And again, it's just one negative rep, everyone gets one once in a while, don't give it too much thought and work on getting positive rep in the future from future topics.

Okay, well thanks for the response. My pannies certainly aren't in a wad. Oh, I just got another bad rep for this thread. Awesome.

So basically I'm getting bad rep for sharing my opinions and contributing to thread discussion. ??

Oh wells :)

Well just to help here a little .. you should read what people have written for any negative rep you receive. I looked at the last 2 comments you received for negative rep and on the whole they weren't spammy, and in fact for the last one it was very good constructive criticism. If I were you I'd take on the advice rather than assume there's been some conspiracy or abuse, or that your opinion isn't of any worth - none of which are validated by the comments.

Linux is quite right though .. it's only someone's opinion, and shouldn't be taken to heart too much. However if you get repeated -rep for the same type of thing there might be more validity in the comments than you realise.

I think rep are a good way of someone venting or being honest, without the drama that follows. Some neg rep I've seen happen has been a little childish, but usually people don't do that.
And when people are being childish, it's best to lol it off <:
