i recently got the game shadow run (finally.) i used to play the demo a lot on the x box 360. the other i was watching some and stumbled upon a comment. the comment said that shadow run was not worth it because it didn't have a storyline. i couldn't help but think the game is good fun onlineand didnt need it. now with multiplayer a must in a good amount of games. do you think all games should have single campaign, or a story of some sort?
i don't mind if the game has just multiplayer or single. as long as it is good. i would also like to see more games that are just multiplayer. it is usualy where most of the time played is at.

I don't really play multi-player, so I prefer the campaigns of games. I play a lot of RTS games, and I think campaigns are such a wonderful, integral part of them. I suppose they don't HAVE to, for those people who only play multi-player and such, but my true love really is single player. So for me, campaign modes/single player is essential. But I suppose not all games need to have them. Still, campaign modes add a lot - a strictly multi-player game might get dull after a while. A campaign allows you to practice a bit, do different sorts of exercises (if it is good), and a multitude of other things.
I think having a few different ways to play games (different modes, often more than just single/multi-player) generally makes them more engaging, have better replay value, and have a longer life time. :)

Online play is where 99% of people want from video games and the other 1% wants online and story mode.
I enjoy playing the campaign its fun and interesting what twist and turns appear in the game

I love the campaign
but if its a really good multiplayer
I mean it doesn't have a really good campaign
but it would be definitely a plus!

I don't think I've played any campaigns (or other single player modes) for any games in at least the past 2 years. I still haven't tried BFBC2 single player mode - same with MW2 when I tried it out. I played campaign mode on L4D2 ONCE and even that wasn't single player, it was with friends.
Unless tetris counts as having a campaign, I don't care much about a game having a good campaign mode.

You're not missing much .. it was a bit of a low point for the game imo, and over pretty quickly. But then again it didn't matter too much considering the mp side of things ..

I've heard that from several people. But even if it was good...I wasn't likely to try it. I don't know why, but single player modes of any new game (meaning not tetris or old school arcade games I play from class when I have no internet) bores me really quickly. I can't even play my GTA games.

I'm of the view that multiplayer is a way to play the game with some friends, and not the focus of the game. Sometimes it works, like for Warhawk, thats fun to play online because its not too intense, but i'd rather play a good single player anyday, and have multiplayer a supplement. I prefer to play multiplayer with a friend though, like split screen. its more fun

I Only Play Campaign when i needed to, like Co-op, if there's an Option, like in COD WaW, To be honest, i like the Campaign MORE than the Multiplayer. Because a Campaign tells you the story what happened in some events of a Game, and you can Practice there so you can be ready on Multiplayer.
I Guess it will need Campaign, especially on Halo, cause the campaign of Halo is Epic.

if you take a look at call of duty they have one of the biggiest population of players online so if they took their story out and put more effort into the online the online would be better because they can fix all the crap that the game has like when i shoot a full clip into a guy and he doesnt die and he shoots me with 3 bullets... you know it doesnt make sence so i would say if a game had a good multiplayer it doesnt need a story because everyone plays story once and heads to online.

Well, I personally do it the other way around. I play a campaign a few times, do multiplayer like twice

The two sides of the medal:
One of the best example for storyless and good multiplayer: Left 4 Dead. It's interesting at all but it give only one true fokus: Zombie/Survivalkilling in Multiplayer.
The other side:
Sonic and the black Knight, good Story but the worst Multiplayer I've ever seen. If a game have both, Story and good Multiplayer the game has won (Half-Life 2) but if one is bad, the game must fokus on the other thing. If both worst than it give not much hope (Stargate Resisstance).

Definitely the best campaign AND multiplayer comes from Half Life 2. What an immense game. The multiplayer wasn't actually amazing compared to some other games, however the campaign and multiplayer combined was just simply awesome.

Half life 2 sucks balls, it has a crap story line with no detail at all, the only good thing about it is the physics, so go play a real game like mass effect (Bioware rules)
Left 4 dead is a crap game, because zombie suck balls. and half life 2 is the worst game that has ever been released. valve should just go back to what ever the hell they were doing because they SUCK at making games.

You're a happy chappy aren't you? At least what you're saying is just your firey opinion and it's not actually fact. In my opinion, Half Life 2 > Bioware. But that's not fact.

I want a campaign if they can make a good one.
An example is battlefield 1942 there the "campaign" is just the multiplayer missions only with bots. If they want to make an all MP game I would not get angry if they didnt put in a campaign cause it would probably suck anyway.
