ok so how do you calculate half a percent of a number I know how to do regular percent but what about half a percent like 1/2%

half a percent is 0.005. It's basically the same thing. To convert a percentage to a decimal you divide it by a 100. So 50% = 0.50. So 1/2% (or 0.5%) = 0.5/100 = 0.005.

And to use that to find the percentage of a number, like half a percent of 100, you do 0.005 x 100 which is 0.5.

I know this is a really crazy question to ask but what would half a percent of 41,000 be i know thats nuts but I'm doing this for an essay for my english class the essay is on teachers and a study in Illinois showed that out of 41,000 teachers 1/2% of them were considered bad teachers so I've been trying to find out how many teachers are in that 1/2%

41,000 x 0.005 = 205

205 bad teachers.

What I would do is divide by 100 so 500/100 =5, which is 1% of 500... then divide by half to get that half of a percent.

41,000/100= 410, which is 1% then 410/2= 205 (.5% of 41,000)

Cause I suck with decimals. I just find that 1%, then multiply (or divide again, in this case) to the percentage I need after. Works easier for me, anyways.
