North America (Europe seems to always get left out or get delayed), will be able to see a Lunar Eclipse tonight starting at around Midnight on the east Coast, (about 3 hours earlier for the west coast). Most people don't know this and I almost forgot.

Thought I'd mention it here. Even though I won't be able to see the moon from my window until after midnight, I'll try to take some pics and post it here. No promises though. Too cold out for me to go out and take pics.

I saw a lunar eclipse once. I was quite drunk. It was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen. It blew my mind.

Wish I could remember it.

I caught it. Didn't sleep much but it was worth it. First Solstice eclipse since 1638 and I wasn't gonna miss it! I missed the last one.

I have small clips of it during different times of the eclipse, hopefully will have the video up by tonight (heading to a meeting now so can't work on vid yet).

Rendering video now - heading out to meeting. Hopefully it'll be done by the time I come back and upload shouldn't be much longer.

When total eclipse hit, my camera couldn't auto adjust properly - I spent about 15 minutes with one eye open adjusting manually to get it right lol. Just edited all that out.

But glad I caught this one. I missed most of it coming back though, couldn't wake up - oh well.

Nice one Linux .. glad you managed to get to see it and weren't hampered by clouds, hanging out of a window like a crazy man, or simply by getting frozen to death hehe :p

Nice to see your cam is still rocking some decent quality too!

I've seen around 5 Lunar Eclipses and one Solar. This was the second total lunar eclipse for me.

I love astronomy too. But most of my knowledge is self taught, wish the schools I've been to taught a bit about astronomy and astrophysics. Then again...I probably wouldn't be as interested as much as I am now since it's kind of a hobby.

yeah that makes sense.. kinda forced you to want to learn more.
my grandma bought me a really nice telescope for my birthday one year.. i used it till it didnt work no more.. i kept thinking i'd see aliens or a ufo or something which was another fascinating topic for me at that age..

still linux, it looked like as if I were there too, (professionally edited) you need to get a tripod though. no shaky camera. haha.

I do have a tripod but when this started, it was straight up in the sky and I live in an apartment - couldn't really go on the roof, so I had to stick my hand out the window holding the camcorder most of the way. I was able to rest it on the windowsill after some time but by then, I was too tired to look for or set up the tripod (it's folded up in the closet somewhere).
