When peoples are still arguing about Wikileaks especially when it's also involving my country security (damn), a new rival or maybe friend of Wikileaks named Openleaks. And this can be more worst cause Openleaks also promised that they wanna revealing even more files that can testing countries relationship and security throughout the world. :shocked:

This is the website OpenLeaks (http://openleaks.org/) Currently still closed.

At least they're trying to cause trouble, as opposed to wikileaks who wanted to get information out. At least, thats how it appears to be

It's time for a peer-to-peer, invite-only, Tor encrypted site with uncensored cables. ALL OF THEM.

Bah, what is up with people wanting to release documents that they have no right to?

Bah, what is up with people wanting to release documents that they have no right to?they may or may not have a legal right to release documents, but they have a natural right to do so. a couple centuries ago, diplomacy was open. now governments hide things from each other, and from the people. the people have a right to know what their government is doing: we have a right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, but the government is hiding everything which we could have a grievance for. if you were working for a company that was secretly laundering meth money, you would want to know so you could do something about it, right? same thing applies to governments. you would say you have a right to know what goes on behind the scenes at the business, wouldn't you? while no such legal right is provided (that i know of) i consider this a natural right.

sure, some secrets have to be protected for security purposes, but nothing critical has been released so far, and while i don't know what this new organization is going to do, i'd bet good money that assange won't do anything crazy unless provoked.

i don't know why the first analogy that came to my head was about meth, i apologize.

You are right we have the right to petition but in your example of im working for a company and they were laundering meth money how would I have access to this information unless I was involved someway or another or by a random act of fate I figured it out.

This is how I see it, if this is such an issue of the government doing things that they shouldnt be why arent people who have access to the information leaking it in secret? Not everyone is getting a payoff from the "evil," for a lack of a better term, the government is doing. You would think the people who work for the governments would be the first ones to blow the whistle even if they are threatened one way or another.

why arent people who have access to the information leaking it in secret?because the public has a right to know and that is what the people leaking the information are seeking.

the people who work for the governments would be the first ones to blow the whistlethey aren't because they're being paid to be corrupt.

Leica, this is a never ending circle, if it was for public eyes it would be public information not classified as top secret and everything else above the clearance level of the general public. We dont have a natural right to this information. You say over and over and over that we have a right well that would be true if it was relative to a subject that was affecting the general public.

People are being corrupt this is not new information. The human rights documents leaked thats fine only if they are affecting people negatively.

Was there a natural right for wikileaks to release 77k documents regarding the afghan war?

This is pointless..

Joker you just said a few days ago
I have limited knowledge on the subject matter, from what I read and heard it was just US secrets. But thank you for informing me jango. So if you have "limited knowledge" about this then why are you going from thread to thread arguing with leica and other users about it that do know what they are talking about?

Also here is a helpful link: Wikimedia Error (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech)

The leaks I dont know alot about yet Ive been to the site and seen what they are leaking.

Ya freedom of speech doesnt cover top secret documents or documents pretty much stolen and thrown on the internet. Its like saying FOIA is in the wrong because it censors information in top secret documents that the press wants to use in a story.

Also, jaykub you ask why am I agruing with other members who know more, so they've read every leak and made a judgment of it shouldnt have been classifed as top secret or what not and it should be released for the general public without being bias?

I know your sitting there thinking im crazy for asking that, well it goes back to my agrument of those documents shouldnt be released and we have no right to them.

<quietly enters thread>

This isn't a freedom of speech thing.

And "Top Secret" isn't used to keep things from the public (only from the public) - it's used to keep things from other governments.

</leaves thread again>

leica

It's alright, I was given neg rep in the other Wikileaks thread for this post (http://www.gamers-forum.com/showthread.php?p=251672#post251672) for "shouldnt be rude and call people idiots." No such thing was done.

I think it would be best if we just let both of these threads die.
