I'm not that crazy about the whole close up part of it. It makes it too nauseating and **** for me, lol

How about you guys?

I love FPS games. My favourite genre. Call of Duty was my first ever Online game I played, like, the original Call of Duty - had it on pre order. Loved the series ever since, well, until they started churning out releases every single year, then it just got ****e.

I think it completely depends on the game not the genre.
I generally like FPS but gunna have to agree with Jay about CoD.
Was great now the novelty has worn off for me.
FPS can be quite annoying though, it is nice to have full cam view but even then on some games that can be a pain in the butt!

The thing I typically don't like about the game is, it's travelling down pathways and the enjoyment of the game comes from shooting stuff. Which can be okay, but i'm more of the belief that fighting enemies shouldn't be the focus of the game. This is part of what draws me to RPGs so much, they're not games that focus on one specific area, it's a long journey. FPS games, and games like God of War are nice, but it's fighting from beginning to end.

There are of course, expections. Goldeneye is a shooter, and the game is incredibly fun. I don't like defining my tastes like I just did because there are exceptions. Sometimes a game is just fun.

It's my favorite Genre too. Counter Strike turned it into my favorite genre about a decade ago.

I still play.

I don't really like FPS. I bought the game "Black" and it was fun for a while, but pretty soon it got really annoying and I haven't played a FPS since. I'm not really sure if I can come up with a specific reason that I don't like 'em though. Which is kind of odd since I can usually come up with some sort of reason. O_o I guess it might be that it's so difficult to aim (for me anyway) in those games. I just like games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, I like the fighting and action. ^_^

I'm not a huge fan, mostly because I hate the first-person view. I prefer a third-person game over a first-person one. I enjoyed Bioshock a lot, though, and there are a few others. But it is generally not the genre I tend to game in :)

I like them, but they've got to be interesting or I get bored fast. That and it can't basically force you to play a certain way to be able to do good against others online. /cough Reach

Bioshock was good. Crysis was awesome, though!

Probably one of the best genres, next to just an action/adventure third person maybe. Majority of the games I own are FPS.

FPS is the best genre out there. Unlike a third person action game, you get to experience all the action from the first person perspective.

I would say FPS are really awesome and my favourite, but the other genre's out there are all awesome too like RPG that is also the best. When it comes to games then all the genre's can be the best when you really play the games and get into the games:D:D

I think I found a better way to describe my opinion of the genre. It focuses almost 100% on the action, and I prefer games that action is just a part of, not the main focus of

There should be more to an FPS' structure than just blowing **** up. Hopefully, what the game Homefront boasts will be accurate, because that sounds like a great FPS with many different qualities.

I really enjoy first-person shooters, as they are one of my favourite genres. However, it all comes down to the game. There are tons of first-person shooters, but not too many are actually well-made.

Ya, you're right. I mean when you really look at it, the best games are all either made by the same person, or a continuation of another really good/well known FPS.

Somebody needs to come up with a new kind of FPS. They all are starting to run together it seems like now.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Borderlands, Fallout, etc?

Borderlands wasn't very good, Fallout has been around for a while, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is older to isn't it?

He means Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Fallout and Fallout 2 were RPG's and the camera was similar to diablo's, and the actual third one was like a RTS right? It wasn't until 3 it turned into a shooter.

I really wanna play through Bioshock

I wasn't disregarding those releases, I was simply saying there should be more games of the like.

there are so many genre that if you limit yourself mainly to FPS games you will think your options are limited.

With the way the american media hypes the next blockbuster hit you and all your friends will play just because they say so its not hard to see why the FPS market is being bleed.

S many people aren't even aware of all the games available because they only focus on the hype. It really hurts the sales of anyone doing anything new and interesting. For example S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Call of Pripyat was an extention of the game that game out in 2010 but no one seems to know that.

Other big examples of FPS games to come out last year:

MAG - Featuring 256-player action on consoles? Thats certainly ground breaking action.

Metro 2033 - I am working on a review

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Metro 2033 that game I was addicted to the game that I didn't want to stop playing it. I finished this game twice with different weapons in the end, but this game should of been much longer since the game is really brilliant

I also heard that MAG was horrible. along with the fact that it's on PS3, meaning I can't play it, I wouldn't play it because what i've heard, it's horrible.

The only bad things I heard about it is that since the PS3 doesn't come with headsets nobody communicates, which makes the game hard to play properly.
