Square Enix have announced they'll be making sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.

I've found a link to a trailer for XIII-2 here! (http://train2game.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/final-fantasy-xiii-2-trailer/)

It looks nice, but are you interested in it?

I didn't manage to finish the original. Got bored, as the game felt too much like a grind. :(

If this game is better than XIII, i'm interested. I liked the characters. But if it's a linear snoozefest with a terrible plot like 13, then no.

Wtf happened to Versus? I'm way more interested in that, as i'm sure most people are

I think there's a link to Versus in the link I gave.

What is Versus anyway? I've not quite got my head around what they're actually trying to do.

It's just another Final Fantasy game in the same universe as FF13, but the plot and characters are completely different. No idea why it's called versus though. I read an explanation one time, it's something about the japanese meaning of it or something like that, but I can't remember for anything.

edit: apparantly "versus" is latin for "towards" still doesn't explain it, but there ya go lol

Man does this series ever end? Haha

I have high hopes that they'll come out with a decent addition to the Final Fantasy series. FF13 had its ups and downs, its battle system I thought was pretty unique and the graphics were great. As for the rest it didnt really keep me interested. I cant wait to see how FFXIII-2 turns out.

Well, a Final Fantasy title is typically just a way of saying "this is a major RPG from square enix with a lot of polish" for the most part anyways (that Wii Crystal Chronicles game is apparantly terrible) And people are more likely to buy a big name RPG (final fantasy) than a new IP RPG, especially since the Final Fantasy games typically get the most work put into them and are the most polished. I heard some of SE's other rpgs (infinite undiscovery, last remnant, star ocean 4) were problematic

I liked FFXIII, believe it or not. Lightning was a pretty cool character IMO. Plus I liked those... I forgot the names of them, but the things like Lightning's Odin that she can eventually use. Damn... why can't I remember what their called? Gah.

uh....none of the games are connected except direct sequels (FF7 + Dirge of Cerberus + Crisis Core, FFX + FFX-2, FFXII + Revenant Wings, FFXIII + FFXIII-2) so going back in the series won't do any good...

Try it, some people liked it. The graphics are good, the characters are cool, the battle system isn't bad...but the map is just used to get you to the next plot point or battle.

X-2 was a little cheesy, but I found it to be a lot of fun. A breath of fresh air compared to the usually serious Final Fantasy series. :)

See the menu buttons on the bottom left? you select attacks for your main character to use, and it uses them. the other characters use attacks based on their role or whatever its called. You select pre-set groups of roles in the menu between battles (for example, make your lead character a fighter, and your other ones healers as one group, and then all 3 as attackers for another group) and you switch between these groups in the battle. The roles that the other characters have determine what attacks they use. If you're low on health, switch the group to include a healer. To switch these groups, you press L1 and choose from a list, then there's a cool little animation and battle continues.

Yes. The Final Fantasy games are all similar in approach, like they're rpgs and they tend to use the same creatures (Ifrit, Shiva, Chocobo, Flan) and spells (cure, etc) in each one, but the plots have nothing to do with each other. Each game has a completely new set of characters in a completely new universe.

Yea. There's a few in-jokes between them, nothing big though, like there are characters named biggs and wedge in a few of the games, and theres a character named cid in most of the games. But just cuz they have the same name doesn't mean they're anything alike

I suspected it cause even with all the games ive almost never heard of the same heroes.
