Why do shows like modern marvels show underground installations that house top secret information, or an installation that houses supplies incase **** hits the fan.

I never understood this..

same goes for that show on History that shows the "newest weapons" out there and what not, yes there is a lag between it being shown and what not but its still harmful.

Modern Marvels is "exploring" different installations so far from me turning it onto the show 30 minutes go, half way through, theyve talked about 2 installations both used by the US government in one form or another.

lmao, well, they can't be too secret if a tv show is talkin about it.

Still its retarded to do it.

If whoever is in charge let a TV show be filmed there, the place obviously isn't that important.

This reminds me of Wikileaks for some reason. If there are TV shows about top secret locations, what's so wrong with them leaking cables?

When housing top secret documents and telling them the location State and City, that is a problem.

Wiki leaks has been discussed in another thread.

For every "secret" location they show you, there's 10 more with a 100x more security with sensitive information.

Ya your right, but you would still think if a location houses top secret information they wouldnt tell you that part. You would skip that little piece of information.

The level of security for even minimal security locations is very high. So I doubt they're worried about places hosting 'top secret' stuff.

They're probably adding that part to make it more interesting. If something houses top secret information, they're not gonna let people with cameras in

With what is going on in this world anymore even if they do have very high amounts of security tiger teams could do some damage, even if they dont make it to the information.

If regular datacenters go so far as to have biometric security features, I'd assume that one with sensitive government data would be a hundred times more secure, to the point that you could give somebody every detail of the facility, including maps, details of security shifts, and, ****, even an all-access keycard, and they'd still be able to keep them out. You seem to be interpreting everything that involves sensitive information as a major threat to national security, when no such threat truly exists. If the government didn't analyze every feature of the building to ensure that it was safe no matter what, then cameras would never be permitted in.

Not all datacenters can afford biometric security, most datacenters I bet you have badges and or employee cards to allow access etc etc. Yes I am interpreting top secret information to be a threat to national security as the classification of top secret means the release of this information can do grave damage. The government will analyze every feature of the building to ensure it is safe, that is true but what about tours of the white house and FBI HQ, they let people walk around and what not maybe within ft of sensitive areas, they dont do it anymore, but the point is just because they allowed cameras in dont make it any less of a threat or something to blow off.

I'm gonna jump in on the train everyone else seems to be on and say that these probably aren't that important if a popular TV show crew is on the set... I've never seen the show, but I doubt they just flounce around inside buildings with giant camera crews if they don't have permission to show these places...

I would hope that our government is a little better at protecting secrets than letting conspicuous groups with film cameras into our most top-secret buildings. I'm sure there are also things they are not supposed to film, and they probably watch the episodes very closely before they ever hit the TV.

It's not like you can just waltz into a high-security building without permission, especially with cameras. They'd be arrested. Everything that is being "jeopardized" is probably being watched very carefully.
