I was doing some thought exploration and realized that:
Man is inherently selfish
Man is inherently optimistic
to further the inherent goal of life, which is basically reproduction.
Optimism is apparent in that we have instincts such as that of self-preservation. Evolution has granted us this trait in order to serve the goal of creating offspring, but it implies that subconsciously, we are irreversibly optimists, except in the case of chemical imbalance, etc.
Other than reproduction, a goal of man is to better society. A greater purpose than carrying on your genes is making the future better for everyone else. Of course, we won't all achieve this goal. And not everyone will reproduce either. So what purpose do we serve if we do neither?
Understanding.
We all want to know. Knowledge is the greatest achievement. Understanding is the ultimate goal of humanity. But understanding is selfish. I can't remember how I came to this conclusion but I assure you that it makes sense to me. Because we want to understand, we are selfish.
Understanding is now my purpose. It is all I want from life.
Tonight, through thought exploration, I transcended my normal state of consciousness and became a little bit of a better person. I came to terms with various truths of life in this enlightened state. I feel that I'll forever be content. It was all summed up when I realized that I have purpose.
Having purpose is the greatest feeling I have ever had. I don't even remember why I started this thread, actually. I'm just kind of letting thoughts flow. Of course they aren't true thoughts, they're corrupted by the complexities of language. But I'm trying as hard as I can to let you into my mind.
Tonight I've realized many things
Inherent qualities of mankind
The limitlessness of emotion
The impact that many individuals have had on my life
How to be a better person, and last but certainly not least:
What my purpose is
And much more.
I may have found purpose, but this thread has none. Even so, I hope that you find something in it. Inspiration, perhaps. Understanding. Purpose.
Love is infinite.
